Are they answering the phone and emails? Maybe that'd be a way to check...

They've (the Botos' ) recently purchased a decent size of land in AL. They are planning to expand. Even cited the growth of their brand as being behind the expansion.
I'm sure the same thing was said many times about Miniature, probably even recently - I think they talked about some big expansion of their facilities only a few months ago? And well, look what happened....

If you're smart about planned obsolescence, tho, it's just a given that you should lean toward the market leaders. That's not glamorous or nice, but it's one of the great truths in aviation.

I've been burned in full scale by the same thing a couple times; very expensive lessons there. So that's just how it is, unfortunately.

Align is at the top of the heap in terms of market coverage and depth of resources, etc. in the heli market right now. That's just a fact. So if the main goal is guarding against planned obsolescence, unfortunately, that's who you should go with.

For what it's worth, the same fight goes on in multirotors with DJI. There's just avalanche after avalanche of hate out there against DJI, but they stay in business better than the rest and make decent products for the most part. So the same thing holds there....

Exactly... the Whiplash was the best nitro you could buy until, when was it, day before yesterday when MA went poof.

So I'd be very cautious about models like the Synergy with a very small operation behind them; they could suffer the same fate at any time without warning.

My recommendation out of your list is the regular ol trex 700N. The only weakness it really has (if the design hasn't been updated) is the clutch. It's not too heavily built and the start shaft OWB disengages kind of badly. That may be fixable with the aluminum bearing block which probably keeps it in proper alignment better.

But it's probably the least likely to become orphaned by the manufacturer going bye-bye one afternoon without warning.

UAVproducts.com first and foremost. Robert Remund is the proprietor there and he's absolutely first class all the way in terms of support, etc.

I've also ordered from allerc.com, readymaderc.com (superb support) and getfpv.com.

DJI is the Align of the multi rotor world and they're all over the place with lots of support from the dealers.

I'm a fan of CY and he's a real innovator, but the Stingray is too close to a traditional helicopter to be much of an alternative to one, IMO.

Especially at that price point, you can get a hell of a helicopter that can do a lot more, is easier to see, etc.

Development of traditional multis is starting to intrude on inverted/3D flight anyway. Eg. reversible ESC's/control is starting to show up in open source controllers/ESC firmware:

Watch at YouTube

It's a little goofy, but gives you inverted flight and lots of other maneuverability for cheaper than a Stingray and with the mechanical simplicity that multis offer.

So in my view, I'd go with a standard helicopter. Still a better bang/buck...

Fat Shark BASE SD VGA Video Glasses $259.99
600mW 5.8GHz A/V Transmitter $ 69.99
5.8 GHz SpiroNET Omni SMA Antenna Set (RHCP) $ 39.99
5.8GHz Uno Receiver $ 61.99
That's practically what I have for the ground station I'm working on. I'm still using my attitudes for the time being, I've just been to lazy to put the UNO up onto its tripod lol.

If that transmitter is the immersionRC one, it's a good unit, I have two of them, one on the Whiplash and the other on my f550.

They're out of stock on the NTSC version right now, but I _highly_ recommend spending a bit extra and getting the 700PRO cam to go along with. It's low light performance is really spectacular so you can still do a couple flights after sunset and still see very well...

+1 for readymaderc. I get all my FPV gear from them and their support is excellent...

Just Say No to hobby king. True, it's super cheap, but then again whatever it is's chances of actually flying through the air is correspondingly much lower...

I'm of course partial to the Whiplash since I have 2 of them (an electric and a nitro), but the Whip is definitely worth taking a look at.

The electric in particular is designed to have a high CG without having to kludge the head with a DFC design. It has a traditional swash follower arrangement on it with a very high quality swashplate with a German heim ball in it. And of course, it has the main OWB on the motor pinion rather than on the main gear, which makes the drive train basically indestructible.
So it really does fly like it's on rails in the air.

The only drawback is the somewhat klanky arrangement for the batts, which takes some getting used to for getting the batts in and out. This looks like it's been fixed somewhat in the upcoming but not yet available 700EX. Once the batts are in it's as good as you can get as far as CG, tho.

And for nitro, it's almost unbeatable. The nitro version is probably the best or one of the best on the market...
