Fort Bragg, NC - USA
My intent is not to bash any religion, sexual preference, political view, or anything else. Please don't take it as such.To sum up my opinion on the other issues that have been brought forth by this thread:Not everyone here on this forum, in this country, or in this world is a Christian. Some believe in many gods. Some believe in a different god, or the Christian God by a different name. Some don't believe in a god at all. Others believe that there is something out there in the form of a diety, but unsure of what. Does that make them bad people? No. There are good and bad people of every religion. Yes, Christianity is the religion of the majority of the population of the US and many countries abroad. Does that make it right for everyone? No. Our country was founded partially on the basis of freedom of religion, no matter what that religion is. There is no "official" or "legal" religion. People of other religions should be able to go to school, an internet forum, a local store, watch the news, read a city, county, state, or national publication without criticism or someone trying to convert them by bombarding them with Bible verses and telling them that they'll go to Hell for not believing as they do. Most non-Christians are largely familiar with the Christian religion already, but by their beliefs, upbringing, and feelings choose not to follow Christianity. Many were brought up in a Christian church, but felt as an outcast within said church. That being said, every citizen of this country and of the world deserves to be treated with equality regardless of race, gender, religion, economic background, disability, or sexual preference. Do you think that homosexuals enjoy being ridiculed and discriminated against? If it was a true conscious choice, most would just not choose to be homosexual due to the criticism and ridicule, unless they truly enjoy the ridicule. It is now becoming more accepted. This is why there are so many more coming "out of the closet" in recent years than in years past. Many don't ever even act on their homosexuality. For many of them, it's a matter of being honest with oneself. Regardless of your preference or mine, they deserve to be treated equally. If someone does something that you don't agree with, as long as they are not hurting anyone else or trying to persuade anyone to do what they're doing, let them do it. Be it religion, sexual preference, whatever. If they're doing something illegal, let the law take care of them. If it's something worth legalizing, they'll work to get it legalized. If they're being an a**hole, put them in their place. But don't criticize them for something you don't fully understand.I apologize if I offended anyone. These were my opinions, and not to be taken as hard fact.
