The 600MX motor bearings cannot be serviced, it is virtually impossible to remove the bearings, hence align never offered a service kit for this motor.

The scorpion 4025 1100kv 6mm shaft will work but you need a 15T pinion and do a frame cut to make it fit.

Sometimes on hard landings, aluminium tail booms will bend. CF reinforced tail booms can resist hard landings better.

Wow you already have the best heli, the 700E. Any smaller heli will tame in comparison. Maybe you should consider your next size heli a basher heli, one that you're not scared to fly like tareq al saadi and expect to crash anytime. Maybe a 600 would be nice, almost a big heli feeling but alot cheaper to crash than a 700.

Try to soft start straight into idle up. Dont switch from normal to idle up, the sudden surge in rpm may be killing your one-way.

Separate 2s pack is the safest. Esc cut you still have control and can auto down. And i have more than once crashed into large puddles of water in a wet field, the bec fried and 2s going straight thru will not fry the other electronics.

The 600XL is not suitable for 8s operation. You will need something like a scorpion 4025 890kv (6mm) with a 14T pinion. You will also need to do a frame cut to make the motor fit.

Or you could save the hassle and just get the latest align 600MX motor, 6s is enuf power for me.

Youre better off sticking to stock 6s setup and getting some cheap packs from hobbyking. Experimenting with 4s could be waste of effort. The amp draw will be very high and your packs might not make it.

Yes you have to grease the one-way with proper one way grease. On my 600 if i dont grease the one-way, it will last about 25 flights before it dies (jams). With one-way grease, it will last 100s of flights with periodic regreasing every now and then. Sorry to hear about your crash. The 700mx motor puts out alot of torque for a 4000watt motor and not surprisingly is a killer on the one-way.

The 600M is a better motor IMO but is rated at 2000watts cont and will sap more power from your packs quicker. I am currently using the 600MX and find its the best of the align 600 motors bcos its the coolest running.

Both are reliable but the 600M is better bcos its much easier to do bearing/shaft change. Align even has a bearing/shaft change kit for it. After about 100+ flights, all motors need to be serviced.

Its all about watts. Typically for an 8s power system, you will be looking at something like a scorpion 4025-890kv motor, which consumes about 2700watts continuous. If you want really long flight times, i would suggest you get the old trusty align 650L motor which is only rated at 1600watts continuous. This will give you the longest flight times but many people here will probably complain it has no power. But its good enuf for me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb3NHFIpgzQ

It doesnt really matter what brand battery you buy, it doesnt affect flight times. A higher mah battery will give you longer flight times but you can only go so high before it becomes overweight and your heli becomes nose heavy. I would say 900grams pack is the heaviest you should go for a trex600esp.

Hope this helps.

I recommend for normal mode you change it to 0,25,25,25,25. If you dont want the soft start to kick in again, i think castle software has the option for auto-rotation enable??? I havent tried it before, bcos once im committed to do an auto, i never try to bail out, even in a blade stop.

15T will work fine. Run gov mode high and tach your HS to get the 1900rpm. But if you're really fussy about getting perfect goverened HS on all your hard 3D manoeuvers then you may have to up to 16T. You can do castle logging to see how your HS is holding up.

Im thinking of upgrading to the 700E also. The 700E will do everything a 600E can do but better! More stable in flight, more hang time, better for wind, better for autos, better visibility, etc, etc. The only thing holding me back is that im uncertain how a 700E fairs in a crash. Ive heard this heli is so heavy with 2x5000 packs that an auto which is less than perfect will break skids! And if the frame cracks after every crash it will be a major PITA to fix.

Ive used the ice100 before and in either case (gov or not) flatline throttle curve works best for me. The reason is bocs with a V curve, i will get a slight tail twitch when i punch the collective. I dont see how throttle hold affects whether in gov mode or not, and i auto all the time.

The higher the throttle curve, the better the efficiency. Typically 80% throttle curve and above. For your HS, a 14 tooth will work fine (assuming you are running a stock 600esp). A higher pinion will also put more stress on the power system/batteries, and more susceptible to bogging.

You will need a motor in the 600kV range and a HV esc. Most likely you will need to do a frame cut to accommodate the larger motor, and you're good to go. Unlikely you'll get longer flight times, the 12s motor most likely will have higher wattage draw, unless you start using larger packs.

Sometimes there is a slight bend in the boom after hard landing that is not noticeable until you remove the boom and roll it on a glass table. And also there may be a slight bend in the TT, remove the tail gear case and see if the TT spins centered. Also make sure the TT gears mesh smoothly.

Wow, that brand new stock you mention must be 2 years old!

Anyway i believe the old 75a esc you have could probably do scale flying duty with a low 1750rpm HS no problems. As long as you dont do any scale pitch pumping it should not burn up. And dont use gov mode. Mid timing should be fine. No need to change esc or motor at this time. 6s system is more than adequate for scale flying.

Btw the stock 600 i bought 1 year ago already comes with 100amp esc and 650L motor.

I think dont bother with this motor, at 3500watt burst you will be stripping gears left right and center. And your Ice100 will most likely overheat and catch on fire. BUT if you are only doing hovering, you might be able to get away with it. My Ice100 caught fire after 53 flights, and that is with a stock 650L 2000watt burst motor.

What is the watt rating (or amp rating) of your motor? Trex 600 needs about a 2000watt motor.

Only 1 way to find out, you need to install amp logging on your heli. I was peaking 130amps on my stock 6s 600esp on stock 650L motor, so yeah, you might be hitting 100amps. Maybe you can try fitting a heatsink your your esc.

The geometry of the 600esp linkages to swash is much better than direct servo to swash. When i do my swash levelling on my 600esp, i get zero interaction from high stick to low stick. My 500esp and 450seV2 uses the direct linkage to swash and even if i level the swash mid, high and low stick, there is always some interaction in between. The 600esp also has loads more space in the battery bay, in future if you want to upgrade to duel packs for 8s, 10s, or 12s, it will easily accommodate them.

But i wish i could get my hands on the old stock H60028 though, the longer bottom plate supports my 2 x 6s packs better.

It's 95% skill and 5% equipment. Sure the 600esp may not be the best heli out there, but can most people even reach the limits of what this heli can do? Furthermore align is the most popular heli worldwide, getting spares is so easy. Its so popular, people clone align helis to get on the bandwagon. Kyle Dahl won the XFC 2010 with a Logo 600, Nick Maxwell won the 3D Masters with a Rave 90 ENV, sure they are better helis, but have you tried getting spares for these helis? Even if you can get a hold of these spares, I know a logo mainshaft is double the price of an align. I have a friend who flies a Logo 600, he is quite a good pilot, but he is now scared to fly it. His last crash cost him an arm and a leg and had great difficulty sourcing spares. It was weeks before his Logo was able to fly again! A better heli doesnt mean you can do the piro globe, anaconda, clock tower or wheel of fortune, if you cant do it on a 600esp, you cant do it on a Logo either. I love my 600esp, its stock 6s powered, done 356 flights, has 21 crashes under its belt, and yes it has the 2mm frame upgrade.

The usual mods are:

1. 2mm thick frames

5. Beefed up one-way

But maybe you can get away with 8s without doing any mods. Good luck!

Align arent particularly good with their escs, and have no experience with HV escs, hence it is a welcome relief they didnt include one with their 700E combo. You'd be better off with reputable esc like castle HV or kontronik HV.

Their seems to be a problem with the 700M motors, seizing mid flight and sometimes causing a crash if unable to auto successfully. Hence they have recently released their new 700MX motor. You might want to wait for their new kits instead.

Your rudder stops may be too fast. On my spartan, i can adjust the deceleration so the stops are softer. If you cant adjust your gyro, then you could try lowering your HS. If nothing works then you might have to bite the bullet and buy a 700E, a true 12s machine that now uses mod 1 gears for the umbrella gears.

Take out the bearing blocks and realign with the main shaft and tighten making sure the main shaft slides in and out smoothly. Recheck the pinion meshing, make sure there is no high spot. Check also smoothness of the auto gear/counter gear, front tt gear/umbrella gear, rear tt gear/umbrella gear. Hope this helps. Good luck.

FYI the scorpion 1400kv is a very powerful motor and is a killer on your batteries. You better have fairly new 40C packs otherwise it will mostly likely puff any other pack.

Next time try to aim the temp gun at the internal windings of the motor, not the can. Scorpion motor windings are rated up to 180C (356F), hopefully the align is similar. If the motor is squealing, it is possible to do a bearing change on the 650L. But it is somewhat tricky. I did mine at the 100 flight mark.

the 550 and 600 use the same pack so if it fits in one it will fit in the other
Can trex550 fit 2 packs of 6s 2650 40c side by side in parallel under its canopy? I doubt it.

The good thing about the 600esp is that it will readily accept 2 packs of your 500 in parallel under its hood. You get to save on batteries and can fly both 600 and 500 using the same packs. And the 600 will eat up the wind better.

Check your pm. I doubt align is making the 600esp obsolete. My LHS just brought in more stocks. Align has just released new canopies for the 600E too.

Your LHS might be able to tie you up with other flyers in your area.
