2 regulator outputs? Why?

That is correct, somewhat. If you plug both leads into the rx, you are relying on the buss of the rx to carry the amperage load of all the servos and FBL system, can be too much for some rxs and they will shut down (IE AR6200 on full size Helis).
If you plug them both into the FBL unit, the FBL unit has the more robust buss and it can handle the draw of itself and the servos and the rx with no sweat. The rx has almost zero draw so it only needs a small cable for power/signal (SBUS).
This is the issue, if your Heli NEEDS two leads because of current draw considerations, and one fails, no matter where it is plugged into, it is going to fall out of the sky, period. Also most, if not all BEC or regs with multiple outputs have parallel outputs so if one is shorted or there is a problem with the BEC, they both shut down. So here again, there is simply no redundancy.
If you want true redundancy, you either need a BEC/Reg that can do it (high $$$$$) or you need separate independent power systems like a DCUP or Scorpion guard that will kick in when the main power system goes down.
Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

What I am saying is to run both reg wires into the FBL unit. The signal connection from the FBL unit to the rx is more than enough current to run the rx. That way maximum current capability is on the bus of the FBL unit, where it will be needed the most.Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

False sense
The outputs are parallel so if one goes, they both do. Even if they don't, the quad will not survive either the main unit or rx losing power so I would put them both in the main unit for the maximum current draw ability and just feed the rx off of the one connection. That is more than enough current for a rx....Ron

The VBAR log would definitely tell you if it was the phase sensor. The Log would be littered with warnings.....not that. I would still take a look at the LVC in the ESC as they are set pretty high in the ESC from the factory. All it takes is a slight dip in the voltage and if the cutoff is set to hard, the ESC will do exactly what you described.Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

The cells start to degrade when left fully charged. Eventually the lipos will have a short life expectancy. That is why manufacturers charge lipos to storage charge when shipped. They will last much longer that way.....RonTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

Finally got it!!
Well, when he got to my house, we decided to try and connect with my computer....it worked so we knew it was not a controller issue. When it opened, we realized that he had version 5.2 on his device. For giggles, we downloaded 5.2 on his MAC, and voila it worked!!! For some reason, it just would not load with 5.3 software, but it worked perfectly with 5.2....needless to say we got it setup and not with a pinion change, he will be ready to fly!!!!! Had not seen this issue before but I am glad we finally got it ......Ron

The peak current draw and gate failure of the FETs is what damages most ESC, not average draw. You must remember that localized heating occurs within the individual components of the ESC under peaks. This will not be detected in a data logger as they don't measure individual components. Think of a fast blow fuse.
This is correct. You also have to realize that MOST ESCs will rate their ESC for continuos use and a peak is USUALLY double that. With CC however, that is not the case, the "continuous" rating is dependent on airflow across the fins at a certain temp. Quote from the CC site:
RC HOBBY APPLICATION RATING: 120 amps for the duration of a single 10,000 mAh battery pack with the ESC in contact with a 5 mph airflow of 25C (77F) or cooler air. Controller temperature must never exceed 100C (212F). Exceeding current or temperature ratings may damage components and may shorten the life of the ESC. Always verify system current draw at full-throttle. Decrease load or increase airflow to decrease the ESCÔÇÖs operating temperature.

I don't care what anyone says. Electrics just seem to be a gamble.
(1) He had a charger over charge a pack........
(2) He flew said pack
(3) It failed....as it will almost certainly do every time in an overcharge situation.

You nitro will go up in flames if you spill nitro on the outside of the heli and light it with a match....oh wait you would not do that, just like he should not have flown that pack.
Bad luck on the charger but I would definitley keep an eye on that one.....Ron

I plug one into the rx and the other into the vbar. That way, there is redundancy. If for what ever reason, one is lost, it backfeeds to the other.
Any wire connected between the rx and VBAR will supply voltage to both. It is kinda already built in

That BEC is good to 5 amps, if you wanted an upgrade, you should have gone with the Super Mini.
Yes a Y-harness is what you want to use but you won't lose redundancy as long as the Y-harness does not come unplugged

It does not matter how you put them in as long as you are consistent. The only drawback to doing them a different way is when you buy pre-soldered boards for parallel charging, they might not be the same as you have them. I personally put one male and one female in each housing. that prevents you from being able to "force" the connectors together and causing a short........RonTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

I personally do not leave them charged for more than 24 hours. Keeping the packs at 3.75-3.85 volots when not in ise will keep cell degredation lower. A fully charged pack left too long will develop high resistances in the cells and that leads to failures over time. Storage charge, charge, fly, back to storage. That formula has served me well...............RonTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

The ease of the VBAR is the sliders for setup. Need more gain? Slide the gain slider up and all the minor adjustments are done in the program automatically. No more adjusting each and every little parameter and having to know what each one does. You just make simple adjustments and in a few flights, you don't need the laptop any more.
I like that the CGY can be adjusted on the unit but you have to go through every menu, and know what each parameter does. You mouse over each parameter on the VBAR and it will tell you what it does and how adjusting it will affect the heli. Truly a simple setup and it flies amazingly well. Gold standard IMO.......Ron

At 8.4v they are going to be blazing hot and you're going to greatly increase the risk of a failure.

The 451 doesn't have a metal case to pull the heat off the internals so all that heat is just going to slow roast the servo flight after flight.
Not the case for me in my TDR My servos come down @86┬░ after a flight and never skip a beat All run with a 2s lipo.

It really HOW the Castles fail that gets people attention. When the CC BEC fails, it either sends full pack voltage (up to 50V :eek to the electronics, or parts fall off of it When the ESCs fail, they tend to go up 1n flames.
BTW you don't NEED a Jive 120 on a 90 sized electric if you are going 12s. I ran my E-Aurora on a Jive 80HV with a heatsink here in super hot FL and never a thermal issue

Remove the jumper BIG difference with a gov that works isn't it

I a linear curve program mode 1 (learns stick positions), them Mode 4 (heli mode), mode 7(if the rotation of the motor is backwards), mode 10 (if you have a Hacker motor), and finally mode 11 (if you run a lot of different packs). Then set a flat curve (like 65-65-65-65-65) and all is good then..........Ron

Only real minuses...short flight times, expensive batteries and waiting for charging. You can get over charging wait with multiple chargers/batteries or a high capacity charger and multiple batteries.
Aaron you seriously need to look into Mikados and the HV setups therein. My packs come down almost cold even on a hot day and Even my Turnigy packs are holding up to a 3c charge rate (~50 flights on each (4) ) I can parallel charge (4) 6s 5000 packs with my 3010B @ 2c in 35 minutes.
He already has the right power supply, now he just needs the charger. No optimism here, just personal experience.......Ron

Now if the blades are at (-) pitch, how is there downwash? (the heli is being pushed down as opposed to being held up) I am asking because I truly don't know as I thought it would be like flying inverted. I would the only disturbed air would be from the airframe cutting through before the blades got there. Please help .........RonTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

It makes no sense that the system is running efficiently (coming down cool) and the packs are puffing. They have to be getting stressed somewhere whether it be in discharge, storage, or charging. Do you have a temp gauge to test the system after a flight?Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

Once you have puffed a pack, it will only get worse, never better. If the electronics are coming down cool, and you are within the limits of % drains from the pack, then the pack unfortunately is the only option left. If you were killing the system by over amp draws (whether it be a low "C" battery or over discharging it) the electronics or the batteries would be hot after a flight.
When your batteries sit before flying next, do you put them at a 50% storage charge, let them sit drained, or charge them right after the flight back to 100%?

I really don't want a heli that has battery power over 6s because all i have is a triton eq charger.
You can charge multiple packs right then you caqn consider a larger heli with (2) 4s, 5s, or 6s packs for 8, 10, ans 12s setups also

If you got the Trex 500 route, they are good with 6s setups as well........Ron
