The best is a belt of the clutch like a Caliber 5, no problem with alignmet.
Agrees! Too bad Kyosho has almost no parts supply in my area.

I wonder if there's similar "self aligning" engine mount system upgrade for other helicopters?

Japanese F3C school of thought prefers shorter main blades and low hovering rpm.

I am anticipating new model releases since the new F3C schedules will be introduced in 2010.

I store my TP and FP lipos in the freezer.
I have 3 of these lipos that bloated and freezing them make them go back to the original size. I know the theory about contracting when cold but the recovered lipo pack remains the same size even when it is left at room temperature.

The only worry is the the lipo releases some gases while it's in the freezer and this may affect the food. So I keep them in air tight containers.

Well, as mention earlier, Mario is only replacing the bent bellcrank and the notchy bearings.

For those who thinks all these are normal for a "like new" and " 2 gallons" only, let me ask you, will you buy it from me at the same price I pay for?

If yes, PM me and we have a deal. If not shut up.

Upset with used kit bought off here
Hi,

I have bought a used kit from a reputable seller here in RR.

The seller described the item as "about 2 gl off cool power like new" and "no crashes"

I paid a good amount of money based on his description.

However, when I recieved the kit, I'm terribly upset. The tail control bellcrank is bent. 2 main shaft bearings are notchy. 1 of the main blade grip has a scratch, caused when the grip hit the main rotor hub. The tail shaft drive has many scratches, indicating repair work has been done before. The clutch is also terribly worn out, indicating that this kit has flown much more than the 2 gallons mentioned. All these damages can't occured during shipping.

I have asked the seller to replace the bellcrank and 2 bearings but he is only willing to pay half of the cost.

Now, I'm so disappointed that I have lodged a case with Paypal and may consider recovering all the costs.

Looking at what I have in the box, it's a joke that it was flown for 2 gallons and no crashes. It's a possible case of misrepresenting an item in order to get a sale.

And I have the pics as evidence.

Hobbyshop overcharge for shipping
Hi,

I'm from Singapore and I have ordered some items from a USA hobbyshop. When the parcel arrives, I found that the hobbyshop has overcharged me on the shipping fee.

I have already written to the hobbyshop and ask for an explanation but there's no reply. I shall keep the hobbyshop name private for the time being.

Any experience to share with regards to this type of problem?

I use my Sceadu Evo 50 to fly F3C.

I have the brass weight in the paddles and using CY Radix 600mm main rotorblades. I set up my hovering dual rates (60% on cyclics) and expo (30% on cyclics) to give the heli a soft feeling. Hovering headspeed is about 1500rpm. Tweak your pitch curve so that the gradient is not too steep around the hovering point. Limit max collective pitch to about 8 degrees. No need to do power climbout during hovering.

For aerobatics, I'm using about 1750rpm on the rotorhead. Full rates and 30% expo for cyclics. Pitch is -9 to +9 degrees.

As a start, try to take off and land the Sceadu properly. You can also work on flying straight and level consistently (that's tough). Work on nose in hovering, hovering piro, hovering square/triangle/diamond, roll (both ways), loop, rolling stall turns and autorotation too.

Essentially, the Sceadu Evo 50 does F3C fairly well. When you are good enough, you can upgrade to a 90 size. Size does matter when the wind is blowing.

I had the same sentiments too. My Sceadu Evo 50 was more responsive and agile than my Freya Evo 90.

Try a longer flybar. Maybe 535mm or 555mm.

Makes a significant difference.

I noticed a significant improvement in throttle response when I switched from GV1 to Revlock.

Moreover, you do not need a tachometer with Revlock and it's easy to find a space on your radio tray to mount this small device.

All governors will work bad if the engine is not tuned.

Glitches before and after rain
Hi,
I'm using a JR 9X2 with synthesis module and reciever. It's on the 72 MHz band.

I notice that there is an occasional 1 or 2 glitches when I was flying in a before rain condition (with lightning and thunder). This also happens if I fly just after the rain stops.

However everything will be perfectly fine if it is a bright sunny day.

I wonder if I'm correct to say that the static electricity building up before a rain (with lightning and thunder) can cause radio glitches.

Haha...I met these type of people once in a while. They will "preach" on thousands of things but they only managed to hover or do some mild forward flight circuits.

Just smile at them, start the engine and then do some superb flying. This will shut them up.

Hi fxaermodels,

I have 2 issues which I sincerely hope that you could improve on. I have bought some mikado logo parts from you previously and the experience was good. However, the standard has dropped recently.

1) The new webpage is taking too long to load, especially on the mikado logo parts. Too many items and pictures on 1 page. Please redesign them into several pages.

2) Why is it a fixed US$25 minimum shipping charges for overseas customer? I wanted to buy 3 sets of servor gears that total US$75 and I'm being charged US$25 for shipping!!! Ridiculous. I went to Rick's R/C Helicopter and they only charge me US$5 for the shipping.

Branzz, if you read the article closely again, this raptor is for experimental purpose.

Most likely they will drop the raptor after "toying" with it for a while.

There are tons of min UAV available in the market now and majority of them are autonomous i.e no pilot required.

I made the mistake of dumping all my nitros and went for micros.

Spend tons of $$$ and the flight time VS ground time is like 1 to 100.

Now I'm getting back to big nitros. The feeling of a nitro heli roaring across the sky can't be duplicated with micros.

Nevertheless, I still have the passion for bigger electrics like Logo 10. Flies like a 30, quiet and no smoke.

How about "Made in Euope"?
Hi,
There are several popular brands (Robbe, Mikado, MS, Ikarus and Henseleit) that are made in Eupore.

Are these brands more expensive then comparable products from other countries(eg. Robbe Milli 3 vs Fury Tempest)?

I always find Euporean helicopter engineering to be refreshingly different from Japanese, Taiwan or American.

I have reduced my flying time since I started work.

Hence, I begin to have less time to maintain my nitro heli. Minimum is some oiling to the engine to prevent rust. However, it's a PITA to get a "too much rest" enginer started and running smoothly.

In addition, if I leave the CP fuel unused for a few months, the quality drops and the engine doesn't sound good.

However, I loved the Hornet 2 and Piccolo Pro because you can leave them "resting" for a long time, and then plug in a freshly charged lipo and they will fly like the same as previously. The maintanence time has definitely decreased. They are also easier to fly because I do not have to go to a big field.

Ultimately it depends on individual preferances. As for me, I might be moving into all electrics due to the contrains I have. Anyway, I consider myself to be an average flyer. So there is no need for big powerful machines.

An advice, don't mount the CSM560 on a out of tune heli.

Use a GY401 instead to tune the heli, be it engine problem or vibration. Once everything is perfect, then put on the CSM560.
I guess the GY401 has better tolerance for vibration.

The "flick 10 times" trimming exercise seems to be abit "exciting" and definitely not for beginners.

It seems that the CSM560 prefers the NES8700G more than the S9253. But many people has no problem running either one.

I had a CSM560 and it does perform excellently when the heli is in tune.

William,
You can use by the 5 points curves you have for pitch and throttle. As for the remaining 7 points (13 - 5 = 7), you can extrapolate using mathematical reasoning.

The good thing about many points is that you can smooth out certain part of the curve. For example, I tend to use more points near the hovering point so that the heli would not appear jumpy when hovering.

In my one year plus experience in this hobby, I have came across many pilots, whom in my opinion, do not have the safety factor registered in their mind. The most important reason, I believe, is the "ego" factor.

In their pursue to "show off" their expensive gadgets and new skills, they have compromise safety and endanger fellow pilots and spectators.

Once again, a reminder to everyone in this hobby that it is our responsiblilty to ensure safety.

1)Don't think that your expensive machine will not fail.
2)Don't think that your skills will not disappoint you.
3)Don't think that in an unfortunate event, you can steer the machine into a safe crash zone.
4)Don't fly in an area where members of the public are close by, eg public parks.

The age of the electrics is here.

Cost is slightly on the high side but lipo batteries for micro heli are reasonably priced. 1 set of 3S 1200mah lipo is equivalent to 3 gallons of CP15% in Singapore. I can easily fly more than 3 gallons CP15%flight time with the same set of 3S 1200mah lipo(with recharge, of course)

The Germans know the best about electrics.

Hey, if one day the world runs out of fuel, we can still charge our lipos with solar power, wind power, wave power...etc etc.

How can Singapore compare to America? Our population is only 4 million and there may be only a hundred r/c heli fliers here.

There is only 3 clubs with proper field for flying. Most people are contended with hovering and you are considered good if you can loop and roll.
And with the high cost of living, not many people can have time to practise as much as Alan Szabo. We are too busy earning a living and this hobby is only when you have the time to spare. Forget about sponsored pilot unless you owned a hobby shop. Singapore's market is just too small.

Hopefully Yamaguchi can migrate to Singapore. Foreign talent yah....

Very impressive.

I wonder if anyone has pit a MP2 against a 60 size muffler on a 50 size engine?

It's just a hobby...meaning you only do it when you are free.

I use expo because my thumbs are rough. Sometimes I can accidentally input rudder when I pushing the collective pitch/throttle. Sometimes I can accidentally input aileron when I'm doing a loop.

So, to me, expo helps to reduce the effect of these "accidental" inputs.

Thanks for the advice.

But for those who just post useless comments, you are wasting your time here. Go fly your heli instead.
