The "noob" question that always bugs me is not the specific question but the general" this heli won't fly" or " how do I get this thing to fly"
We have to give them some slack. They are newbies and don't know any better to explain their problems.

It doesn't bother me. Open forums are created to help anyone with questions or concerns they have. We shouldn't get upset.

I will be the first to admit. I don't read the manual sometimes and the instructions they provide are hard to understand let alone make sense. I seek forums for help and guides.

If a question being ask bothers you so much, just ignore it. Let someone else answer it. If that question doesn't get answered, I am sure the OP will resort to other resources to find his answers.

I use the 1st generation Futaba neckstrap when the first 9ZH TX came out; however, I use a DX7 radio. A brand new JR neckstrap is standing by incase the Futaba falls apart.

I use thumb but on the sim I am half and half. Pitch (thumb) and cyclic (pinch).

Mix up some epoxy and spread a really thin layer on. Tighten it up and let the epoxy cure.
I used to do that using JB weld.
Yea ,I have never used a gasket and have never had a problem. Bolt it metal to metal and fly!
I have had no luck not using a gasket. It always leaks on me and the bolt comes loose.

When I was using 7.2mhz, I have had no issue but one. It locked up and the heli just just like a rock. It was a total lost since my engine case, gyro, receiver and a servo were demage. Instead of dealing with it and trying to figure out what had happen, I sent all my radio gears for service and sold it. I am now using 2.4 and love it since.

At my field, every once in awhile there are radio interference. This affects both the helis and the planks or anyone on 7.2 for that matter. I got remember one weekend there were 4 crashes and all swore it was a lockout/glitch. Thank heavens for the creation of 2.4.

YES, piro slow. If you go to fast, you might aswell not move the cyclic to correct it.
I use the 4 points much like the clock as my reference. Depedning on the direction I want the heli to go, I use 12 to move the heli away from me, 3 to move to the right, 6 to move closer to me, 9 to move to the left.

Smoothness will come after practice.

Yes, a sim is a good investment if one will be in this hobby for a long time.

I had a mini titan before when it first came out. It flew ok with all plastic parts. I sold it however to get the T450 V2.

There alway risk involving online purchase. I'm glad there's services out there like paypal to cover our backs if needed. In this incident. It seems clearly the seller is intentionally avoiding the buyer. Not responding to pm & email are poor business. The claimed has been filed. The seller had days to act and or responded but did not. Negative feedback should be given to let others know what happened.

I have had 2 incidents where deals gone wrong. I try to avoid dealing with online seller. That is just me.
Good luck to you.

Who said metal gears on servo don't break?
My Mavrick belt final gave out after using it for over 6 months on and off. I should have changed it but I didn't and here is what happened. The belt gave out at a low fly by and went straight to the ground and mangled itself up but not until the tail shot off some distances away.

My HS65MG gear and case broke

Odd parts need replaced:
center hub
65MG gears/ servo case
9650 tail servo gear set

What is funny is that I have stocked up on parts even doubled up but you can never pick the right ones to stock up. I don't have the washout linkage, servoes gears, center hub. I just hope I can find it here where I'm at.

VFR pilots are supposed to "see and avoid" obstacles and other aircraft. Of course if you see a full scale aircraft, they certainly have right of way.
Doesn't slower aircraft(model planes) have the right of way.

Piro flips itself is a hard manuever. I am having a hard time with it on the sim. BUT, it is finally clicking in. Granted it is only on the sim. I haven't tried the really deal yet.

But, keep at it and it will sink in.

There was an incident that happened at a field in LA where a 40% gas plank flew straight up from the middle of the runway. The plane was about 400ft or so. A sheriff heli was flying over our field at that time and saw the plane. It landed at the field and had a talk to the owner of the plank.

I was there but didn't see how close the plane was. My question is, why did the heli flew over the field at a low altitude in the first place. I think they just wanted to pick on us.

Email from AMA
Just got an email today from AMA. I wonder if this was send out because of an incident that happened in Australia a couple of weeks ago?
Dear AMA Member:

For the past 12 months, the Academy of Model Aeronautics has taken a proactive role in representing our membership’s model aviation interests and protecting your flying rights by working closely with the FAA on an Aircraft Rules Committee (ARC). The purpose of the ARC was to draft recommendations for regulatory policy for the operation of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) in the National Airspace System (NAS).

This week the FAA released the ARC recommendations to the public, and our goal is to keep our membership informed on the recommendations and progress. Please understand these ARC recommendations are just that, proposed recommendations and not yet policy or Federal regulation.

To help keep our membership informed on rulemaking process and the latest developments, we have created a special section on the AMA Web site for you. Plus, you will be able to submit questions and comments. While there may be other sources of ARC information available to you, the only true source for accurate information is Model Aviation and AMA Web site.

Tell me about it. For me, either it is cold or it's raining. If both are not forecasted than it is windy. To top it all off, typhoon season is coming.Duc S

In addition, I wouldn't recommend flying that heli yourself for the first time. Go to a flying field and ask someone who is proficient to set it up and trim it out for you.Duc S
