is the TDR 2 strictly a 14S setup or is 12S a good performer as well?

Thanks,
Jeff

How is the TDRII different from the TDS?

Is it just 2 blade vs. 3 blade?

was using spectrum DX7S - no issues.
I think I mounted the antenna's too close to the carbon frames and they made contact and caused issue. Going to re-route and give it a try.

Swash Question

Swash Question
Having either a radio glitch or a mechanical issue with the TDR.

I have a new Vbar control on the TDR and not clear if I had a radio lock-out for a second, but if not - it looked like the Swash may have mechanically locked up for a second, then was ok. Luckily, no damage and safe to the ground.

Has anyone had any swash plate problems with the TDR - something I obviously don't know about.

My servos seem fine and can't find anything wrong with the model.

So, I'm thinking either placement of antenna's too close to carbon frames, which caused a radio glitch or the Swash had an issue.

When I turn the swash either clockwise or counter-clockwise, if looking from the top down - it has some light, soft flex.

I didn't put this TDR together, so not sure if this is normal.

When the model went out of control - it was during stationary flips and it stopped mid-flip and jerked forward hard, then recovered back to normal control.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm going to reroute my antenna wires, but from a mechanical perspective - I'm unclear what I witnessed.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas,
Jeff

Chet: 3-blade option for TDR 1 could be very cool.
its not like the current TDR design isn't awesome as it stands today.
Was out flying mine the other day, and I just love it!

I'm proud to say, that the TDR I have today, was at one point, Ron's machine. He sold it to me and I got what I paid for - a well built, excellent running heli.

I placed a big order for parts over 3 weeks ago from Henseleit.

Is 3-4 wks normal lead time to receive?

I love the TDR, but this is ridiculous - they need to get a US distributor, what is the big deal??

Just have some online shop they trust stock 25 parts of everything.

unfortunately, I'm using a new DX7S I had laying around after my old DX7 Crapped out. For the life of me, I can't understand why spectrum did not offer a normal and two idle-ups like the rest of the world w this radio.
Looks like a DX9 is in my future.
Stupid mistake on my part and will definitely unplug right away from now on like I normally do. After 4 flights, I was getting a little tired I guess.
I ordered a bunch of spare parts, but the only thing that really broke from what I can see now, is the pitch link.
we'll see once I spool her up again.
This was Ron's old TDR - sorry Ron, I'll take better care of her.
Anyway, the TDR rips!!

I ordered the few parts I need and also a whole load of spares considering I had none. Parts obviously take a whole to get, but I just like the way this Heli flys to not own one.

Hopefully parts arrive in 3-4 days from now.

Stupidity with my TDR
This is going to make you guys feel a lot better if you've ever done anything completely stupid in this hobby.

Yesterday after flying 4 packs in my TDR and a great afternoon of flying might I add. After my last flight, I brought the heli. back to the table and started talking to someone and hit the throttle hold to on and she started spooling up.

Fell on the ground, cracked a blade, broke a pitch link and dented the boom.

Awesome! Right? Anyway, pitch link no biggie and wanted new blades anyway. The dent, I can live with that for now. Didn't effect the torque tube or support bearing.

But wait, it gets better - tonight my girlfriend asked me to move the TDR because she was organizing and lifted it off the table, lost my balance and yup - she fell on the floor again. This time, a hard floor.

Broke the skid plate holder and definitely totaled the blades I wanted to replace.

So, if you ever feel emotionally challenged - think of this story.

Now, not only do I have to worry about crashing, but also dropping the heli. on the ground. over 20 years flying - this just tops them all.

I'm ordering some parts for the first time for the TDR Rigid.

there are three options that the manual does not detail.

boom 0800 - 700, 750 or 800.
I assume its the 700 or 750 for standard TDR kit, but not sure.

Can anyone please clarify.

Its not a serous vibration.
It can sometimes occur due to wiring (how close/far) from Vbar which I am rewiring now.
But some of the TDR guys have strapped a piece of fuel tubing over the sensor and has extinguished the slight wag, which in my case is a very small one.
Thanks for your input,
Jeff

Vbar Tail Gyro Gain Setting in TDR
Guys,

Just curious what tail gyro gain settings some people are running.
I ask because I had a slight tail - wag and had to put a piece of fuel tubbing over the gyro and turned down gain to 78 to fix the problem.
Anyway, just wondering what gain settings for tail gain has been optimum for other TDR flying using Vbar.

Thanks - any input would be great,
Jeff

The TDR may not be a full-on smack machine, but you can throw any 3D maneuver at it and it will perform. I don't fly hard smack, but I've seen guys do it easily with the TDR.

So, its not screaming at 2,200 rpm, but I don't you need that rpm anymore after flying the TDR - I think Mikado could have geared their 700 for a lower headspeed and performed just as well.

Agree, its a more graceful heli. and why it suits me better for that reason.

Now that i've got my TDR flying, only 10 flights or so on it.
If built right, which it is - what has been typical # of flgiths before any servicing was required.

Is it necessary to break down the main gearing for relube, etc at a specific point and also how long are the dampaners lasting in the rotor head.

I fly a little smack, but most big smooth 3D.

guys, I received the new parts - new blade grip and new thrust bearing and new hub and still have the same issue - one bolt will sit flush against the hub and give me right amount of play and the other one will not sit flush against the hub and it blade grip slides out too far - this causes a slight bind in flight and causes my vbar to act up.

I am at a complete loss - guess I should have bought this model new!!!!!

maybe its the outer bearing that sites under the bolt, that has diameter issues - but would need to order a new bearing from Henseliet and that would take another weeks - guess I should have ordered that too.

I've had this bird almost two months - still can't fly it.

Any ideas would be great?

I started flying RC Helis. over 25 years
ago and my first Heli. was a Schluter Heli-boy.
In the day, that was a great helicopter.

Now I own a logo and a TDR - these are both awesome Helis.
in the current climate.

It's amazing how the technology has evolved and that I am stil not
bored with this hobby.

I think we're always looking for the best, when in reality both Mikado and Henseleit are just different flavors of exceptional design and modelship.

If you fly either - it can't get any better, but the PILOT can.

Happy flying,
Jeff

I actually just borrowed one from a friend.

I measured from the bolt that holds the blade grip on the hub to the inner edge of the set screw that holds the hub on the output shaft.

The good side is 28.67 and the troubled side is 28.69-70

both bolts are flush, so it seems a length of the hub is the issue and the bearings and thrust as well seem all seated properly.

Guess I need a new tail rotor hub!!!! So frustrating, has anyone heard of this on a TDR happening before.

both turn freely - its just that one side has to much play and not moving freely over the outer bearing.

I've swapped the blad grips and the one that is correct, works properly, the other one does not.

I know that both grips are installed correctly, as well as the thrust bearing. - the one that has the problem just won't slide back and forth on the inner thick bearking like the opposite side and has too much play back and forth.

Its the wierdest thing - do you think my blade grip depth is off and I need a new blade grip? The screw sits all the way down against the hub thread and the bearings are all correct - its seems like a blade grip issues.

Tail rotor Grip installation problem
I noticed I had a binding in one of my tail-rotor blade grips.

I've installed the bearing at back, then the thrust bearing with cups in correct configuration, then washer, then the bearing that sits under the screw.

the other blade grip slides slightly back and forth and moves over the outside thick bearing, but the other blade grip does not; it does slip back and forth, but does not move over the thick bearing.

I am dumbfounded and not sure what it is; but know this is causing my binding.

Any ideas??

Thanks,
Jeff

Putting in new servos and should be airborn sometime next week - can't wait to fly this heil. Been in the hobby for 25yrs. and this is by fair the most awesome RC heli. creation I've owned.

Researching some battery options for the TDR.

Can you guys tell me through your experience what has
been the best overall battery experience - not the most expensive, not the cheapest, but the best overall bang for the buck?
A good strong battery, that I'll get a reasonable amount of cycles.

Thanks,
Jeff

Laughingstill TDR
Hello,

Just wanted to give a shout out for Ron's (Laughingstill)TDR.
Ron sold me his TDR, and everything he promised was sent.

I was waiting to buy a TDR for a long time, but the production/wait time was just too long. When I opened up the box, I basically received a perfectly built/new looking TDR.

I just wanted to thank Ron and if anyone ever works with him on any level in the hobby - he is a standup guy!!

I can't wait to start flying this heli. - its a piece of artwork.

Enjoy the games today,
Jeff

If any is interested in selling their TDR, I am interested in buying.

Also, if someone has a position for a TDR and a delivery scheduled within the next 1-2 months - I will buy for kit price, plus $250.00 if someone is interested.

Thanks,

Henseleit Insight
Hi guys, I am in the market for a new 600/700 sized Eheli. I fly 3D mainly have never had any experience or even seen a Henseleit helicopter up front.

Can anyone give me some insight into their new model, what its about, the kind of set up people will be running in it and general impression about this heli.

It looks so cool, I am tempted to get one for that reason alone, although after reviewing some of the threads here - people seem very impressed about them.

Any insight would be great,
Jeff
