Longranger 1/5th Scale
I am trying to find a drawing of the seats within the longranger so i can scale down to 1/5th and mould with modellers foam, i have done a goodgle search i can see loads of pictures of different seat configurations, but no measurements, does anyone know the size of the seats needed for a 1/5 scale.?

Thanks for the comments guys,
The fuse is very rare, it was the Rotortec one made for the zealous mechanics, after my fire where i lost mine which was only 1 of 2 in the UK flying i tried to find a replacement, Brian Simpson did offer me the moulds and all the drawings for 30K Australian Dollars, i did not have that kind of money.. sp i just kept looking through all old forum posts and asking if anyone wanted to sell, finally someone who watched me fly at Nationals and a few scale event contacted me and the deal was done..
These are still very rare, rumour has it and it is unsabstantiated that only 10 were ever bought, 4 are in the UK but only Glimo now regualrly flies, 1 is the then importer of the rotortec zealous gear,he now has nothing to do with flying and I tried contacting him on Twitter and other social media as i know his old shop had a load of spares, but i never got a reply so gave up after many emails.
The other one was by dear old flyer in the South West of UK, i cant remember his name...
I am looking forward to getting back into the scale, i have the rivvett tape today so i am gonna experiment over the weekend as i would like to have rivets.

Thanks for the info Matt!
Yes I remember those fuselages and the zealous mechanics. I would have thought they would have sold many more than they did. I imagine that means there are at least several of those fuselages floating around somewhere. I have started moving up to larger fuselage sizes and would love to have one of those.
Continuing to follow your build thread and looking forward to the finished product.

+ 1 I've been looking for 1/5 scale size long ranger for years. Not too big and not too small, great presence in the air also.

Thanks guys for the comments, yeah i found the 1/5 scale was a good compromise between large and medium model.
I flew PeterRobs 1/4 scale jetranger many years ago it was huge, was also difficult to transport in a normal car, he had a van so it was ready assembled, some make the boom detachable, but it is the height i always found the difficulty in a normal reps/family car.

I have been trying out some rivet work the past few days and putting a false floor in, i have found the starwood kit which i ordered from Doc Tim a few yers ago, it has a bottle of green and different needles, really easy to use, just need practice.

You do yours differently to me
I put tape dow, then a thin smear of glue along the length and then lift the tape and voila!
Wipe the tape down and start again!
Your way is the posh way haha
After scale everything else is a toy!

Thanks Ade,
I did try your way, but i have fat fingers so i kept getting glue over the fuse LOL i should have masked off either side of the tape in hindsight, i also kept using the tape but the green stuff is a little more runnier than just using PVA glue so it kept running under the hole in the tape, so in the end i just did it free hand, some of them have come alittle bigger as they dried, i will sand them off later today and re do them using a smaller needle.
I do have to say i have really enjoyed doing it over the weekend, like an old englishmen sitting in his potting shed ha ha, well it kept me out of the Mrs' way...

Next thing to do is the door and fuse windows, the kit never came any, so i am gonna have to make a mould, I had a word with Modtron last night who gave a suggestion and solution, the guy i bought the fuse from has a vacume pack and offered it to me so i can make my own.. I have never done this kind of stuff before, so it will be something new to try. I have orderd the clear perspex at 2mm thick, so will have a go at making windows later in the week.

Edit
Had a couple of emails from skilled builders, who have said 2mm is too thick for vacuume, thanks Modtron and Dgoss999, I cancelled the order and reorderd PETG 0.5mm, A4 sheets x 10

Yeah agree.
The fuse as i mentioned did not come with Passenger or Pilot windows, so I have had an attempt after scouring youtube and the search function here on runryder, there was some really helpful info, I havent got a 3D printer but I have heard that there people now printing clear plastic windows.

I have had a go at making some moulds using the modeler foam, i built up the layers for the rear windows as they have a large bubble because it is a fire and rescue helicopter..

The rivvett seem to have come out larger in the photos, but i have 2 pack primer which will go on and i am hoping will reduce the size,if not i will redo.
The moulds are a work in progress i have used body filler and then filler putty for the fine scratches, I have got hold of a vacuume machine so hopefully this will work out and I will have the master moulds.

These are the positive moulds, i will need to cast a negative which i will use plaster, thats the idea anyway.

started by drawing on the foam.

Then did a test fit and more moulding with filler and elbow grease.i put the mould in upside down, so it does look wrong, seniour moment.

Then in between the drying of bodyfiller, I did some more rivvetts.

Was not happy with the Rivets after a coat of primer I decided to scrape them off around the door and rear windows, I also got hold of a drawing and put in the panel lines, tomorrow I will mark the distance between each dot and use a smaller needle..
All part of the learning experience and really enjoying it.
