Are there any Gasser helis today which have 26 cc zip start engines?
Just wondering , which companies which are likely to remain around in next 5-10 years , make gasoline 26 cc helis (not the OS GT gas engine variety) ? Are they flybarred or flybarless ? Never flown one before and if time and funds allow , would like to get one one day !

Several.

Quest Neo-Caliber ZG (flybarless), Zenoah G260PUH. I own one and it’s magnificent.

Miniature Aircraft Whiplash G-II. Beautiful aircraft which is well supported. Various Zenoah RC engine sizes available.

Would a Vario Benzin trainer be good in terms of future parts support? I'm not into 3D .I know it's been along for a LONG time .
I like it has still has flybar option as I read somewhere that FBL controllers could be sensitive to vibrations from the 26 cc engine?

Benzine trainer is a good choice.

Big bird, by the way... Take that into account... Transportation...

I would prefer a 700 size helicopter.

No problems with recent FBL Controller.

Agree, stay with a 700 class and stay with RC format engine. Beast, futaba make the best fbl systems tolerant of gasoline vibrationshowing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

If you’re into sport flying then the PUH format is absolutely fine. I’ve never had my GSR260Z or Caliber ZG overheat. They both have great fans and I prefer the form factor of the PUH format. Older gasser conversions may have had heat issues due to the fact they were essentially nitros converted for petrol.

I’ve only had flybarless gas helicopters and they don’t like the run in period much and also don’t really appreciate being overly rich. Once run in they run very smooth and the servos will be cool.

The Caliber ZG is essentially the petrol version of an F3C thoroughbred. It is fairly expensive but truly beautiful. It’s definitely not a 3D machine although Rüdiger Feil flys his 3D but he is a top notch flyer and the European distributor.

The Vario Benzin is by all reports a very good and reliable helicopter using the RC format engine. It’s an older design but there is definitely nothing wrong with that. They are also up there in price.
