Getting the old bird out!
I'm thinking about firing up my raptor titan. It has set for so long, I'm not sure how the engine will do though, any tips? The electronics turned on and worked flawlessly, after cycling the batteries.

I would take out the plug and check to see if it can be turned over by hand first. If it can , I would put some fuel or after run oil in the plug hole,, reinstall the plug ,,, but just loosely screwed in a few turns to help keep the fuel /oil in the cylinder while turning it over . Then put the starter to it and turn it over for a little .. to loosen the thick oil fuel that has accumulated in it . Then put in the plug and start it up . You might have to do this several times before it loosens up enough to start .

If it doesn't turn over by hand then you have a bigger issue ,, but sometimes a good soaking of W D-40 overnight will free up old stuck motors enough to get them running .
If that doesn't free it up then you will have to tear it apart and clean it up by hand ,,inspect the piston and bearings and install new parts that have possibly corroded together .
Good luck .. and have fun with your vintage heli .I am flying 2 old ones ,a Schluter Cheyenne and a GMP Hughes 300 ... both have been converted to electric motors and modern collective multi bladed heads .

Very good!

Don't forget to check glow filter, the clunk line in both main tank and header tank and also check muffler line, so cut the burn out tip and reinstall.

Check belt for right tension and very important... Gyro double side tape...

Enjoy your machine!

Freeing up a locked up engine can be done safely and quickly with heat. If not out already, remove the engine from the heli. With a heat gun (monokote gun, hair dryer, mechanics gun, etc) heat the engine all over, making sure the piston and crankshaft get thoroughly heated. At some point you will be able to turn it over by hand (gloves required). Once you can turn it over by hand, oil it up with after run, 3&1, or anything similar. Once the engine cools down, start washing it out with alcohol - pouring it down the exhaust port, plug hole and carb. Turn over engine, shake and drain. Repeat until the alcohol pours out relatively clean. Oil the engine back up with after run oil and you're good to go. Be very wary about sticking an electric starter on a locked up engine. The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

One of the things I love about glow models is that they can sit for decades and with a few simple checks, fly like they did when you last played with them.

Electric model are even more easily stored but the batteries are not. It takes considerable investment in new batteries to get a model you haven't looked at for 10 years flying. Not so with a glow model. Yes the receiver pack may need attention but that at worst spend a few bucks and replace it.
.
.
.
Cycle the batteries. You said you did that already.

Make sure the motor isn't too gummy. Others already said that. If the motor rotates at least a bit but is sticky, fill it (flood it) with WD-40 and turn it over by hand until it's free. If it's stuck pull the motor and unstick it.

Check your fuel tank(s) for goo and check your tubing for cracks and aging.

Go fly.

I have glow model helicopter I pull out from time to time from the mid '80s. Batteries, fuel system, gummy/stuck motor. Check these and off you go.

Update-
I tried turning the engine(ys50) with my fingers and its seized. I pulled it and put some heli fuel in there, to let it soak some. Tomorrow I'll see how it feels and go from there. Thanks for the tips!!!

Old Raptors never die. It will run I bet. Check fuel lines, heat up engine with blow dryer with the glow plug out, and turn it over.Add fresh fuel, new glow plug and fire it up.ALSO I would have a hot battery on deck. Good luck, and keep the nitro burning. That sweet smell of "Nitro"

Fired up the raptor today, but took it easy on it. 2 of the 3 sets of tanks, I can't get to stop leaking! The tanks that dont leak, the tubing inside is jacked. It'll run great for the first quarter tank, but I'm happy to hear it again!
