Death of Dieter Schlüter
Dear friends of model helicopters,
Our pioneer Dieter Schlueter left us forever.
Let us pause for a moment and keep a memory that he deserves. From my good friend Achim in Germany

Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.

RIP Mr. Shcluter..your six second winning flight in 1965 that I saw on a video that I bought a year before I got into the hobby was truly inspiring..he engineered and built the model and the mechanical gyro on board!I do a great decending funnel!

Talk about timing, just yesterday I finished an estate buy out that included a Schluter machine. I haven't had my hands on one of those in a very long time.

RIP Dieter

Sad news.
Met him in Germany in the 70s and visited his shop once. Very much a gentleman and he will be missed.
RIP Herr Schluter.

I never met Mr. Schluter but I've known of him for most of my adult life. Few in this hobby today know how difficult it was in the earliest days. ANY controlled flight was a major accomplishment.

Below is a YouTube by Dieter. I don't speak German but I believe what he is saying is: "In the early days we were happy to simply see the parts go round-and-round and happier if someone didn't loose a body part".

Rest in peace Sir. You have added a lot of good to my life.
