Hi jxtee, no I have not, it is the first heli that doesn’t have a oneway on the start shaft that I’ve ever built so I don’t have the tools to check this. Do you think it could cause or trigger my problems?
I’ve heard a runout on the start shaft assy would be very high freq. only.

John Benario yes I have tried the tail blades from another heli and a new pair. None of that solved the issue. I have since switched the entire tail shaft assembly (shaft, hub, grips) from my D3 awaiting for my next test.

I have also ordered the unassembled carbon tail drive shaft with all the parts separately, not the prebuilt ready to go unit so that I can put the bearings at odd distance from eachother thus making sure I avoid a harmonic resonnance.

What I start to think is that I got the wrong drive shaft, especially the rubber cushions that are on the bearings. They could be for a hirobo scale heli that doesn't have the octogonal tail boom because the rubbers are way too small to ensure a good fit in my octo. carbon boom

Dgoss999 unfortunately not yet, I really don’t have the time these days but the parts mentioned above are ordered. I hope next week I will have some time for that.

Hi gdesdigu,
Yes, i find the runout within 0.05 error as per manual is a "big thing" to take care of when building Eagle3. I use a dial indicator to check runout, and i don't fully tighten the clutch at once. Im satisfied if when idle, the tail servo is not too hot, and carbon frame doesnt feel too severely vibrate to the touch.

Ok, sounds like it is time for me to invest in a dial indicator then! But god it is a PITA servicing the engine on the Eagle3...
Is there a trick to do it without disassembling half the heli?

Hi, I guess u have no choice but to separate the bottom half and take out the engine. Check also that the starter pully washer (0404-012) is not overtighten and deformed, overtorque this tend to tilt the flywheel(0414-313)and mess up the run-out too.

I don't know but we are talking about an Excelent kit from Hirobo!

It is hard to believe that this kit has all this problems.
We are not talking about some cheap asiatic kit!

At this time, we know for sure that some "rotating thing" is Unbalanced and need to be corrected.

Disassemble the whole kit is unnecessary!

Saludos cordiales,

Thanks for the tip jxtee, I’ll make sure not to over tighten the washer and check the runout.

No matter how good the kit, it won’t defy the laws of physics, like you said, some spiny thing is out of balance or is badly supported.
Even a Rolls Royce will shake like a tractor if the drive shaft is bent...
I’ve replaced what I believe can be out of balance, now I can pin point the issue to the drive shaft that is badly supported. Either I was sold the wrong part that was ment for a round tail boom from the hirobo line (scale or legacy idk as the E3 drive shaft is supposed to be carbon and I got an ally one) or the wrong rubber cushion was installed at the factory.
At least a cheap asiatic kit like you say lets you mount the bearing supports on the drive shaft yourself and not at the same distance like it’s been delivered from hirobo.
Either way, sh*t happens, it’s part of the game. I’m waiting for the parts and some time to put everything together.

Thanks for the help everyone, I’ll let you know how it goes

Hope the issue will be solve soon. Built it right, the eagle 3 with ssr7/8 head can hover at sub 1400rpm without wobble
