Help!

Hi all,
I recently took my old Century 450 out of the loft, along with it's tx, a Spectrum DX7. After 14 years all the batteries hold a full charge, and all settings are as was. It's trimmed to fly but I have a problem I can't fathom out. As soon as I power up I get an intermittent beep, as though the throttle stick is on. I'm not sure if it's the ESC, or Futuba GY611 making the noise as they are close together. It does sound as though it's coming from the gyro, but that reads Hello on start up and displays as it should. Anyone any good ideas that may help me get the heli' back into the air.

A lot of ESC's initiate a beep after power-up as part of their normal functionality. Have you tried to spool up the rotor?

I'm thinking it is the ESc. I've never heard a 611 beep at all. I have seen several instances of an ESc losing, for a ton of reasons, whatever was programmed into it. Because of the rig sitting as long as you state, I wouldn't at all be surprised that all the ESC programming as gone back to whatever factory defaults were.The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

14 years ,, I would replace the batteries no matter what they showed they could hold ... they maybe not be holding it like it looks like and the RX or ESC is having to reset because of low voltage being present or surging down low enough to reset it ? Replaced batteries is always cheap insurance for future flights !Larry C ----------Bergen R/C helicopters

A lot of Castle ESCs has an option where you can turn on a beep when the ESC is powered up but no throttle being used. It's to remind you that the ESC has power.Blades; what goes around, comes around!

Let check the ESC setting.
What ESC we are talking about?
Don't you remember each setting on your transmitter?

A friend of me did same thing... Yes.. He forgot to flip the throttle hold switch.

Thanks to all for the answers. Just realized I had some, and how to get them.

I found out the problem, me! Well my memory. The battery pack I fitted was a normal pack for a nitro helicopter I had years ago. The batteries I should be using are the 3 cell lipos. I remember I safely disposed of those on storing the helicopter years ago.

I know technology has moved on but, this little Century 450 was the first helicopter I built all on my own, set it up and flew it. For that reason I'm quite sentimental attached to it, plus it's really pretty!
