Futaba 760r aileron drift issue Align 600XN kit with futaba 760r
Having a left aileron drift at hover. Iv reset links relevered the swash full range of motion. Iv moved 760r to above tail mount position. Zero improvement on drift no matter what I do. If anyone has had this issue and fixed it please let me know. Thanx |

Anyone know what would cause cyclic drift on a flybarless heli? |

Silly question, but is the model still (not moving) when it initializes? How bad is the drift? Gas, glow or electric model (how much vibration)? Any chance you've got a mix in there somewhere you didn't intend? You say the model drifts left? Try shortening the right side link to the swash a turn so the swash tilts very slightly to the right.I see that your are a newer member here on RR. Have you flown model helicopters for a while? The reason I ask is, you are aware that our models have to tilt to the right in a hover or they drift left? The model will not stay stationary if the disk is level. A pretty common new helicopter pilot question is why is "why is my helicopter not level in a hover"."Well, nothing bad can happen now." |

I had a old RR account back in 2004. Broke my thumb real back in 2008 and just got back into flying 6 months ago. I flew align 600N’s back in 2004-2007 not new to hobby BUT I’m new to flybarless. I know the Heli has a tilt at hover. My New Align 600XN Nitro with futaba 760r gyro in a hover it will start a drift to the left like I’m doing a small input. Like stated above I have moved gyro to the back on top of tail with zero improvement. What I’m thinking it’s vibration. I have the 760r gyro mounted on a gyro plate so I’m using 2 gyro pads 1 to stick gyro to plate then 1 to stick plate to Heli. It’s something Iv never had to deal with for this long. I own a 600N that with sit there hands off and eventually start to slide in a direction. My 600XN in a hover will always drift left after 1 or or 2 seconds. I may have to do like you said and shorten the opposite link. Then I’ll have to check if it will climb out straight. Maybe using the metal gyro plate and using 2 gyro tape is a issue? Gyro plate is just a small piece of metal the size of the gyro so you can use 2 gyro tape’s.. I did read a old thread on another site a guy mention he had the same issue and replaced gyro with a different type.. I’d like to figure this out... |

/There is not a recipe...
Every gyro has its own procedures...Drift... That it means the heli has a lot of Vibrations, incorrect mechanical setup or FBL setup incompleted. So, you are doing the correct procedure...First! Look for Vibrations and solve it.Then, mechanical setup, links length, main rotor balanced, blades balanced... Boom support loose, push rod to tail rotor like a chord "vibrating", tail rotor Unbalance...double tape...At the end, FBL setup, the easy part.
Some FBL gyros has auto trim, other don't have this so you need to do it by hand.Tell us about trim your heli with this super 760R...
What did you do?/Saludos cordiales, |

Be sure that you do not have any trim or sub-trim in the aileron channel. FBL systems will see a tiny amount of trim to mean you want a tiny amount of roll.Phil Heavin |

I worked on ball links last night. I don’t have any trim or sub trim in radio never have. I fly tomorrow and see how it goes |

Increasing the rotor head gain from initial value of 50 to 70 fixed the aileron (and or elevator) drift for me.I just maidened my Goblin Raw today with a 760R and also had aileron drift in the hover. It also reminded me I had the same issue when I maidened my Compass Chronos with a 760R.
For me in both cases when I upped the head rotor gain from the initial 50 up to 70 the drift disappeared!
Try upping the head rotor gain. |
