Align 600n engine stuck
I built this heli about 13 years ago and ran less then a gallon through it...Its been hanging on my wall for a decade...

Well im trying to sell it amd decided to try and turn the engine over and its stuck.....Yes so long ago guess i didnt prepare it for long storage....

What do I do? I sprayed some lubricant in the glo plug hole....Do I need to take out the engine, its been sooo long since I worked on my rc heli.....

Its a align 600n, I dont even remember what engine these came with...

Engine might be a OS 50 Hyper Engine as mines has the blue top...They seem to be selling near what im asking for my whole helicopter on ebay....

If worse comes to worse is there any where i can send it for a rebuild, moght not be worth it being im sellin the whole bird for $250

Take a heat gun and slowly heat the cylinder head and the side of the engine block.. and grab fan and slowly work it back and forth. You will have to take motor out of frame to do this and remove muffler so you can spray oil into cylinder. Also remove back plate and oil. Use gloves..

Well, there are several things to solve...

1. Ring stuck on piston
2. Connecting rod stuck on piston pin.
3. Bearing stuck.
4. Crankshaft corroded on air intake

Heating can solve the problem.
But if it is not working, you need to "work" the connecting rod, bearing and piston ring with solvents, brake fluid, wd40 and a lot of pacience.

Take your time, once you do get it moving best to disassemble engine clean and oil very good. Patients is key. You can break the ring if your not careful.

I got it freed up, should it run fine? I had less then a gallon ran through it since new 13 years ago..I never disassembled the engine before, im trying to sell it

Is there a tutorial or anything to allow me to dissasemble

I would think if i could start this the heat and combustion would burn the rest of the gunk out...Unfortunaly my nitro is 13 years old

The problem there is even though it turns over, that gunked up, dried varnish is in the bearings and it is extremely possible and highly probable that the balls in the bearings aren’t turning, but “skidding” around the races. Once the engine does start, it only takes a few moments of the balls skidding, not rolling within the bearing races, to ruin the bearings. If the engine had a solid bronze bushing, this wouldn’t be an issue. Ideally, it really doesn’t matter on the bearing type. If the engine was so gummed up that you couldn’t turn it over, then the only proper mechanical remedy is to disassemble the engine, clean and check it thoroughly, lube it up, and reassemble. Keep in mind that gunk could be blocking fuel passages in the carb also. Good luck with it.

Like I stated above you need to take it apart and clean real good, your main bearing & front bearing needs to be replaced. There is a lot of info on YouTube about disassembling and rebuilding R/C nitro engines. It not that hard to do.

You’re selling “the whole bird” for $250 ! Why bother doing anything ?? Just be honest with the buyer by giving him all of the details and just sell it “as is”

If you spend more $ trying to fix an issue that may or may not be there, you’re wasting your time and money, IMHO......
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....
