GMP Hughes 300 ,,, electrified
I have also been working on another antique this summer / winter .
It is a vintage GMP cricket Hughes 300 that I put in an electric motor and FC to control the Hirobo 3 bladed rotor
I have probably 25 flights on it this fall before winter hit and it flies really nice for an antique !!! To bad I can't say the same thing about me
Also added a Vario coupler to the angled tail wire that always breaks after a few flights .. hope this takes care of that problem .
Anyhow ,, enjoy !

Got paint on fuse ,, getting close ! The GMP Hughes is a baby setting under the Cheyenne's wing
I am getting burnt out on finish work .. Need to get my fingers into saw dust and glue

Liked the full scale anti rotation /elevator link , so had to try it ... works great . Needs to be just a skosh longer though .

FC and RX in place of fuel tank

New canopy came in ,, so back to the Hughes .. Having 3 builds going on this winter gets exciting some times and very confusing

I wanted to mimic the raised panels on the doors .,,, So back out with the light cardboard .

Glued to the already painted door .. decided to do it after the first coat ... not sure I would do it this way again

paint on canopy ,, just need some black trim around windows

Door latches made and on

Materials for the latches .. if you never throw anything away The door handle mount is era 1966 round servo connectors with split grip end spread out for mounts and the pin receiving hole re drilled to the piano wire size which is flattened on the outside handle area with a hammer and bent to the "Z" latch configuration .

Worked on fitting the seats so that they can be taken out to access the batteries easily . I needed just a little more thought into this before I started
Seat back made and extended out some to cover the batteries that stuck out further once the velcro was on
tabs on bottom keep front in place while the velcro straps on top fasten it all back and down .

Batteries all in place and strapped in now

Seats in and strapped down

black trim done and doors mounted and canopy on bird now . Been doing some on the V-22 also . Will do cockpit detail probably next winter along with decals .. this probably pretty well wraps this up for this yr as the V and the Cheyenne still need a lot done to them . :drug:

This little old / new Hughes 300 is such a fun bird to fly that I got around and had Callie make up the decals for it .so it wouldn't be naked its first yr out .. even though I hadn't planned on doing that this yr .
Callie took the few pictures I sent and made up some fantastic decals .. the company logo on the tanks turned out way better than I expected .
Thanks Callie graphics .
