UIH,

Been some time since an update.

After getting the repairs all glassed from the inside with 4oz cloth, I laid a layer of 2oz on the outside. I used the redneck vacuum bagging process to help with a pretty smooth finish.

I put some thought into what structure to keep and what to rip out. The main landing gear boxes and part of the bulk head they attach to is all that remains of the original structure. Every thing else is out of here.

I plan to use the same mechanics as in my 67 and will design the structure based on that lay out. Also with those mechanics the cabin area will be pretty open.

Will start templating ribs soon.

A few pics.

Uih,

B

Thanks Gents,

I have take a look into the upper cowlings. Overall they are in fair shape. They will need some work but nothing too bad. I would like to get rid of all the screws used to hold the cowlings on so will entertain some changes to add flanges where magnets/pins can hold everything in place. As I move along will put some more thought into this.

On a side note, I have another project about ready to kick off.

A sneak Peak.

LOL,

Not a "box" so to speak.

Its a BA Block of 3lb density foam so I guess it could be a box.

You must know it will be another Sikorsky product.

Happy Valentines Day folks,

Been taking some time reacquainting myself with my Stepcraft. I was just about to get the hang of it and Ro and I moved 4 years ago which put many things on the back burner.

Coach E txt me one day and said something about saving to by my machine because it was collection dust in my shop and he could put it to good use or at least better than I was.

The thought did cross my mind for a moment but instead he sent me a file and sort of challenged me so I took him up on challenge. A couple weeks later Evan received a set of side frames for his Invictus.

Thanks for nudging me on Evan.

I needed a set of mechanics for my 76 which will be the same as in my 67 and for another project in the wings, a Sikorsky S-XX. I can not take credit for the mechanic design but they work fantastic in my 67 so what the heck.

These mechanics are a huge departure from the original mechanics. This will be a great improvement to this project.

Here are the mechanics for N301CV. Now that I have mechanics to to work from, I can start making templates for the structure for the repaired fuse.

Yes G-10

I cut it or carbon fiber in a water bath. No dust no smell and helps with tool life. I am able to cut a piece about 14x24 in the bath.
