600 AS350 Build
After kicking around the idea of building a 700 size scale AH-1W, I have decided that I will finally tackle this 600 AS350 project that has been languishing in the attic for six months.

I have some 3d printed scale items from Fine Scale Modela including a retractable landing light fixture, bear paws, wsps, and pitot tubes. We shall see if I can make these parts fit. There is currently no plan to add anything in the cockpit as this is only a sport scale project.

One problem I can already see is lighting. Installing lights in that horizontal fin is going to be a challenge. Simply fitting the fin already looks to be a challenge.

A functional cargo hook is also slated for the project.

Nice. I am curious to see the light system flashing. Can you do a video of them?

I didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time!

Sure thing. The lighting system is somewhat programmable. You can use a spare channel to switch the lighting modes from all steady on, to all off, to quite a few different patterns.

Lighting system mock up using the GT Power Aircraft Navigation Lighting System or "Flight Simulated and Flashing System".

The system comes with a variety of LED's, plenty of wire, and a manual. The lighting pattern is selectable via a spare radio channel. I find this system to be sufficient for most sport scale projects.

Obviously a custom controller would have to be built for a truly scale application. An RC lighting controller is an easy and fun PIC project for you electronics hobbyists out there. Maybe that would make a great video in itself. Stay tuned.

Based on advice from a fellow club member, I will be going with high voltage servos on this build. Right now I am looking at the MKS HBL665 for cyclic.

That is a great looking fuselage and will look great once you add nav lights and other scale details.
Keep us posted on your build!
