update, it's not $ 5000, it's $9,900 he has to pay in
well a few months ago I posted that my son had to pay the IRS some $5000 because his immigrant wife's Government Subsidize Health Insurance, well last year "his" Income was $2,200 more than what the Government rules allowed for "him". well now the IRS is telling him he has to pay in $9,900, all because of that $2,200.

how stupid, why doesn't the IRS just ask for the $2000.
he's a good kid (man), he has never been in trouble with the Law, no street drugs, doesn't drink more than 1 beer a night, doesn't drink & drive. he's smart, talks respectable, has a pretty good job, not the best but good, he's an honorable person, worked had for the $5000 to bring his wife to America. has good values. this is America this is not right to do this to him.
and lawyers, they will probably want $3000 to $4000 to help him, then in the end he will have to pay $3000 or $4000 to the IRS.
this is just another cheat, that's what it is !!

it's a dirty thing,
the IRS told him> "it's a law". and that he has too much money in the bank. my god he is saving to buy a house.

this is F'ed up, I guess the IRS doesn't want him to buy a house, they want him to have nothing, all because of $2,200

Unfortunately that is how all Govt subsities "work". They have some threshold triggers.

I hired a guy a number of years ago who was on a partial disability from an injury when he worked for the city. Suprizingly little per month. It was guaranteed so long as he never earned above a small trigger point. He was doing great at the job, so i gave him a raise, he freaked out and cut his hours to protect his precious little benefit. He is sort of a smart guy, good grades, a degree, he would have been pulling in good money, but for some reason too stupid to not let the disability go. Last i heard he was working as a bagger at a grocery store, probably still the same reason... the disability "benefit" disabled him far worse than than the injury ever did.

I have heard a that a way to catch a monkey is to take a coconut, drill a hole in it just big enough for a monkey to get his hand in it, place some nuts inside. The monkey grabs the nuts, but won't let go of the nuts to get his hand out again. You can just walk up and just club them to death.

I am very sorry to hear all of that Gearhead. Taxes are taxes, and they will get every single cent from you if they think you owe them. We moved back to Texas from Virginia and this was a huge part of it: TAXES. They tax the crap out of EVERYTHING. 2 years after moving back to San Antonio, I noticed my debit card wouldn't work. Called my bank, they said that there was a hold on my account for back taxes. They wouldn't tell me anything else other then I should contact Va State Tax Office. LSS, they froze my account for $118. I NEVER received notice that I owed them. I freak'n hate taxes. I don't mind paying my fair share, but it never seems that way.

This is very unfortunate. The IRS can be very unfair and surprising other times reasonable.

IRS do set aside codes and regulations to reposition funds from being what can and can not be taxed. Sit down with a competent Financial advisor, than a CPA respectively.

FYI
I’ve known business owners that got a far worst iOU bill and if we respond to them practicing emotional intelligence, we can be helped.

Gearhead ...his immigrant wife's Government Subsidize Health Insurance, well last year "his" Income was $2,200 more than what the Government rules allowed for "him". well now the IRS is telling him he has to pay in $9,900, all because of that $2,200.
I'm sorry, but didn't we already do this (see link below)? Does this really require another thread? https://rc.runryder.com/t830800p1/

Further... I'm I to understand your son brought a Philippine wife to America, registered her as an immigrant, expects the American people to pay her health insurance and is now upset they made too much to qualify?

"... his immigrant wife's Government Subsidized Health Insurance..." Tell me about that - because as an American, my government isn't subsidizing any of my health insurance. And are you suggesting that last year your son had to reimburse the government for his wife's insurance and has to again this year? Are we still paying for your son's Pilipino wife's health insurance for another year?

"Subsidized Health Insurance"... We have a program that effectively says, "If you marry an immigrant, we'll pay their health insurance?" Is this some sort of Democrat recruitment program? "Marry a Mexican. We'll pay you."

Look... I know these are pointed questions but this is the second thread you've started on this topic. My impression is that your son married a Pilipino (his choice), somehow expects the US government (me) to pay her health insurance (apparently totaling at least $10,000 USD), and is now upset they make too much money to qualify? Is that about right?

I have no doubt your kid is a good fella and I wish him well; but, I think he will be better able to achieve his goals when he begins to make decisions that don't include government subsidies to make them possible. I'm not here to tell your son how to live his life but if he married a non-US citizen with the understanding I would pay her insurance, all the while earning enough to buy a house, we are going be on opposite sides of the discussion.

I'll apologize in advance because I'm certain this isn't the response you were hoping for. I have a voice in my head saying, "don't say anything at all". And if I've misinterpreted the situation, please forgive me.

an idiot and his^ scenarios

if anything sorry you are not ! so don't piss on me and my son and his wife and expect me to like it ! if you don't like these Subsidizes and people marrying outside their race and bringing their wives and husbands to America maybe you should write a letter or 10 letters to your congressmen. I mean what the hell's your problem anyways. cause you and you family is getting the money back and a few thousand more!. think about it, maybe some of that money will be going to some crack head in your family

but you are correct on one thing, my son is a good person, he surely would not have produced a reply such as yours

Its called listening to your gut. You either post something because you want to or you simply just don't do it. But apologizing for it after you post it in the same post, well, wow. OK...its your world.
