Brass Grip Spacers - why?
In my experience, I mostly see grip spacers (between the dampener and grip bearing) made from Brass...is there a reason for this?

Every time you see metal-metal contact and movement, you are going to have one metal worn out by the other.

Brass is used as antifriction material. So, we use Brass when you find metal-metal contact and movement.

While what you say is true in general for Brass, I suspect it's how it interacts with the polymer damper it's butted-up against more so. Perhaps corrosion resistance, or impact tolerance, etc.

Nop... The interaction is with the spindle and bearing.

Now, if you want more "aggressive" behavior of the flap damper, you must try a brass with more external diameter.

But curiously, the latest from SAB, the Kraken manual, shows the Brass spacer facing the dampener with steel shims facing the grip bearing...go figure....

Oh!! Good point.

Brass as antifriction material.

Shims for adjusting tolerances.

That is why shims are made by special alloy steel.
