Contest flying
Hello,
I have looked at the maneuver for hovering. The drawing tell you to hover at 2m then the written instruction tell you eye level. I am 6 ' 1 " , So if someone shorter it would at his eye level or is it 2m regardless your height? Which way are they are going by? I've always done skids at eye level, back in the 80's. Everything has changed since then.

Thanks

Dan

That is 6' but eye level with the skids has always been the standard for scale flying.

I understand 2m = 6' 6 3/4 ". It says eye level so if you are 5' 2" his eye level is different then mine. So do the judges go by 2m or eye level of the pilot? The rule book is contradicting. I hate to practice and be off by 6 inches

Eye level... 2 mts... 6'

Things are not obvious.
A procedure must be clear enough.

When this misspell happens and someone need to decide if you follow the procedure, only the lawyers can solve such a mess.

Definitely, short people can't fly that type of contest.

So, the procedure is wrong.

Actually the rule book says the skids should be approximately at a height of 2 meters and since it is a safety requirement a more severe downgrade should be given for being low as opposed to being high.

Rule 28.10 in the AMA rules.
When in doubt slam the collective it won't help but it will end the suspense

If you fly skids at eye level, you will be good.

Notar If you fly skids at eye level, you will be good.
The phrase "eye level" needs to be deleted. F3C rule is "skid 2m heights," and AMA adopted it for safety reason.
Rule book will be corrected I hope.
