wjvail At the moment there is an epic battle going on. The voice that is shouting "enjoy the excess of models you already own", is winning - but it is a seesaw, ebb-and-flow battle royal. As my mouse hovers over "complete order" button, I back away, drink a cup of coffee (or beer... depending on which end of the day it is), and try to become distracted with some task I've been putting off. Cooking something in the kitchen or on the grill works. Mowing the lawn has so far managed to postpone the inevitable. God help me but sometimes I talk to my wife or do the crossword. Sometimes I even take one of my models to a field and try to learn how to fly it. Anything to avoid that lllaaasssttt mouse click.
It is a rally good thing that we live across the Country from one another. I would readily be your enabler as you would be mine. Together we would have to build a warehouse.
The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

PaulBowen My Ergo 30 was cheap as chips and brand new. I built it with new modern electronics and 23 years of wisdom. Careful shimming and setup has produced a helicopter that is a true delight to fly. It’s smooth as silk and those soft dampers produce a blissfully relaxing experience that is almost like a park flyer. The OS32 is so smooth it’s almost electric.
That Ergo is still a good looking heli IMO, and somehow steered my away from any more Hirobos, or even any Raptors at the time, just more JRs......

Wyvail, I am afraid I am in the totally opposite corner. I have a bad case of "Don't need it-itis", seems I have had it for a while. Lots of nice new
helis out there, been looking at generators, e-bicycles, etc etc, don't need another gun or more ammo or...........the list just goes on and on

Have kept between 2-3 helis since I have been in this, works pretty well.

But I TOTALLY understand what you are going through!! Couple years ago, I decided to just 'casually' start looking for another vehicle, even though the one I had was doing the job very well. That CASUAL turned into an almost full months-long obsession until trading late that summer!

I would say stay strong with that self-control...........but

I'm in the same boat with the OP. I told myself that I only live once. I work hard, so I reward myself once in awhile.

My last big reward was 3 years ago, I bought a Lexus GS350 for $55k. Since then I still buy heli stuffs, but not much because all my money go into the car payment. I don't need a Lexus, but I'm not regret. I'm enjoy my car and my heli everyday. When I'm done with car payment, I will get more heli and a truck .

I had an IS250 and it was way too small and seats were uncomfortable. I traded it for a Volvo XC70 and it's awesome. Love Lexus vehicles I just got the wrong one. Been looking at the GX460. I like old people cars and comfort. Love my wagon currently.

raholek Well!??!?!?!?!
Funny you should ask and it's a funny old world.

Shortly after starting this thread a very nice woman contacted me and told me her husband had passed away a few years prior. Her kids and grandkids had taken what they wanted of his things and the rest had been sitting in the garage for some time. She didn't want money for them. She just wanted someone to play with his toys.

I met her and she had large carload of things. It has been quite a job sorting through all the stuff. Items varied from too outdated to be of much value to anyone, to things people in my local club certainly could put to use. Having been in this hobby for quite a few years now very little of the things she gave me had a place in my shop. How many battery charges does one man need?

I still have a DX8 and JR 9303 to find a home for.

The only items I've decided to play with myself have been two Thunder Tiger helicopters. One is an E550 FBL and the other is a Raptor .30V2. Both models had been assembled but as far as I can tell, they haven't been flown. Because I had been considering a 6S 550 class model helicopter, the TT E550 was the first project. I have removed every screw in the model and found only a few items that had to be corrected. I have installed KST 915V2 servos. My intention was to use an iKon I have sitting unused but I couldn't make the iKon work with the E550's odd CCPM swash. For the time being I've installed a Futaba CGY760.

I now have 16 flights on the model totaling 2.5 hours. It is a joy to fly and has been a really fun project. I easily get 10 minutes of flying out of a 4,000mAh pack. As usual I was able to take a free model and put $650 worth of servos and FBL unit in it. No matter.

It has filled my need for a new model helicopter (for a while).

The next project will be to get the Raptor 30 flying. Like the Thunder Tiger E550, I will thoroughly inspect the model to be sure it was assemble correctly and that time hasn't damaged something. If nothing else, the model is in need of a good cleaning. (The E550 was in similar condition.)

I still own and fly my original Raptor 30 and 50. This model highlights how many things I changed on my models over the years. I had forgotten what a stock TT.30V2 looks like. The Raptor .30 this woman shared with me is like a time capsule. It is just as Thunder Tiger shipped it years ago. The only bit that caught my attention is that the model has an OS SX.32. I had expected a Thunder Tiger .39.

Like the E550, I will have to decide what servos, governor and gyro to install. I will probably go back to the KST BL915V2s for servos and a freshly refurbished CGY701 for the Gov/Gyro. We'll see.

Thunder tiger raptor! My kind of heli.

This is a "die hard" machine.
You are not going to find issues on this bird related to TT parts.

Disassembly...
Tail box and boom.
Main rotor with shaft.
Frame or POT.

The main concern... Motor OS
