head temp in ys91 st
I have a spectrum TM1000 set up with temp sensor in the engine's head. What temp should I set my DX9 warning to let me know the engine is getting too hot?
if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

Mmmm... It's depend.

You may try this as initial setup:

On top head... 100 C... 212 F
On cylinder... 80 C... 180 F

If there is no warning... Lower the setup by 5 till you get the warning, so raise 5 and leave the setting as it.

Remember... This setting is always a warning!
Don't run overheating your YS...

Thanks for the input. Here is what I tried so far. I started at 250F and for sure that was too low as the back plate was actually cool to the touch after the alarm went off. I leaned out the engine a bit and gradually raised the alarm temp to where I'm at now which is 300. The back plate is hot now after a flight. I am occasionally getting an alarm at 300 which concerns me a bit. At this carb setting, the motor seems to perform well with a lot of blue smoke so I would normally not suspect I was running too hot(lean) were it not for the fact that I'm getting an alarm at 300F. What is your experience?if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

YS91ST is a very strong motor.
It can work lean and resist mistreat but not for too long.

Smoke is not a good indicator for overheating. Be careful.

300 F?... My goodness...
Something is not good on your readings... Too high!!!
