Headspeed Tachometer?
Trying to acquire a shutter-style tachometer good to at least 3000 RPM.

looks like the MA Skytach and the Turnigy LCD tach are both no longer available. Is there anything currently on the market? Google wants to sell me laser-based tachs, which won't do what I need.AMA 700159

When I had an Android phone, I used this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...e.headspeedtach
It seemed to work quite well. I couldn't find something similar for iPhone though. You did need to lay your phone on the ground and hover over it for a short time.Phil Heavin

The max speed is irrelevant. If you see 4 blades then it's twice as fast as the display shows. I've had a Kyosho tach since the mid 90s and that's how it's been used since headspeeds on little helis got crazy.Nick Crego

No idea. I can tell you with an optical tach if you’re looking through it and see 4 blades it is spinning at half the head speed. If the MA is optical, that is still true.Nick Crego

Which the specs state a range of 500-3300 for 2 blade

My regular G2 however (looks identical), has a 2 blade range of 500-4200RPM and 4 blade up to 2500Diabolo 700UL / Logo 700 / 600 / 500 / Goblin 500 V-Bar NEO / Oxy 2 / Blade 180CFX / mCPX BL / Nano / V-Control

The problem with those is you have to get close to the blades. There’s a post on here from about 5 yr ago where James from the RCtoday show cut off 2 fingers using his airplane tach on a heli.Nick Crego
