Radios, radios and more radios
Ok so from my earlier post I inherited a Trex 450, 500, and Raptor. With that I have 6 radios in total so trying to figure out which works what and which to pass on to a RC buddy.
Here's what I know:
Again I am a total newbie to this stuff, been around it a million times but never thought to ask him about his setup before he past.
Spektrum DX7s(Gen 1 I believe)-Has stored program fro 500 and a blade nano
JR 8103 has program in it for the Raptor
I assume the two old Futabas were for his airplane stuff and are functional
JR6102-smoked it as I had no idea about the reverse polarity charger port
Spectrum DX6-has a dead battery that will not charge, assume it controls the 450 at this point as there is a park flyer receiver in it and that's what the transmitter has written on it and in the manual?

My questions are this-both the 450 and 500 have spektrum receivers and servos, can I use the DX7s on the 450 as well, I assume I will have to bind it if so?
Also no charger is present for either Spektrum, I have read a JR will work for the 6 but the 7 has a much smaller plug and there seems to be a specific on for the Gen 1 radios. How do you guys charge your radio batteries, factory wall charger or something else? I have another post coming on that stuff next.

The Gen 1 Spektrum 7 channel is a very good radio, that was when JR and Spektrum were working together, you can use it on any helli or plane just bind do a set-up and go fly, to charge the battery there are a couple of ways, you can find the factory wall charge used and use that, or remove the battery from the radio and use your std hobby changer just make your own wiring you can even buy the wires adapter that goes from the radio to your std hobby change it's easy and if you reverse polarity most of the radios have a fuse inside, just replace and good as new.P.S. sorry for the spelling or the grammar I am dyslexic!

Your are correct.

Most ot us, have at leat two radios, the principal and a backup.

As I read, your TX are spektrum and JR. So, you can configure all your models in just one radio, leaving the other as a backup.

Probably, some batteries need to be charge out of the radio.

First of all, make a list... Which TX drive what model.

Choose your favorite TX.
Maybe JR...
Your second TX could be dx6.
Put far away the Dx7...
I don't like this piece of junk.

Futaba's... Well... For airplanes.

Let see what charger you have...

Not at all a fair statement. That transmitter will serve him well with the machines he has on hand. I have had a trex450se on a dx7 that I keep around for a backseat go everywhere heli since that radio was released. Never once had an issue with it. The newer ones on the other hand after Spektrum and JR parted ways are a different story in my experience.

I liked the fist Gen 7 channel but after that, for me, it was downhill, never like the newer ones.P.S. sorry for the spelling or the grammar I am dyslexic!

Here is and update. Well I thought the DX7s I had would be compatible with the Spektrum Ar6000 receiver in the Trex450 but alas it is not. SOmething about being a older DSM tech and not DSMX like in the DX7s? Binding procedure did not work for me. So I went to plan B and did get the DX6 powered up after finding a blown fuse and powered her up. Unfortunately the antenna is missing and after spending an hour on hold with Horizon after having no luck online finding one. Without it I doubt very highly I can determine if it is indeed the radio for the Trex450 and a park flyer with the same receiver. Maybe I can swap in a the same receiver that's in the Trex500 that works with the DX7s? just not sure if that's and option?

Ok, so Trex 500 has a Mikado receiver, after a little research I am assuming he converted it to a flybarless setup, hence the Mikado. Posted in the wanted forums but if anyone has a AR8000 receiver that came with my DX7s orignally they want to get rid of let me know. I have been on the Spektrum help line twice trying to get a answer for another compatible receiver for it but I just stay on hold for hours.

Check this...

So, you insist on your dx7s.
Ar8000 is good enough for it.
