I got a new GMP Hughes 300 canopy from Adam Mueller of MP Helis last fall. I had to get in touch with him via e-mail as his web site doesn't work anymore. A month or so back I tried to get in touch with him again to purchase a Cobra canopy but never got an answer, but another flyer on the antiques forum said he can be contacted through facebook messenger. I don't do facebook, so that didn't work for me, but it may for you if you are on facebook.Allen Dye

Steve, I'm pretty sure I'm that guy. After you contacted Adam and he e-mailed me we carried on a pretty long e-mail conversation to get my Hughes 300 canopy ordered. I used the same e-mail address to try to order a Cobra canopy from him a few weeks ago and never got any reply, so I don't know what is going on with him at this time. I managed to get a new Cobra canopy from someone else, so my Cobra project is good at this time, but I hope Adam is still in business as I, and as well as other lovers of old GMP helis, will probably need his services in the future.Allen Dye

Yes Allen, I’m sorry I didn’t remember it was you. Yeah, this making parts is a tough game. When I started making Cricket parts back in 2009, I invested a lot of money. Sales were good for a while but then things dried up quickly. To this day, I haven’t recouped even half the cash I invested. That’s why I tell guys, get it while it’s here because when it’s gone, it’s gone . I’ve sold out of a few items that I won’t have made again and I can almost guarantee that In the future you won’t see anyone else investing their hard earned dough for this venture. Plus, the longer you wait to buy when it’s available, the older and less popular the Heli gets thus adding to the fact that making parts for it just isn’t worth the effort anymore. It’s just too costly to invest money and then wait literally years for a return on your investment. For myself, it’s a labor of love. I started doing this so I would have what I needed to keep my Cricket flying well into the future. At least I can take comfort in having accomplished that.

I didn't realize they were that rare. I was lucky enough to buy a GMP Hughes 300/269 cheap at the Perry hobby show last year. Its in decent shape but I plan to rebuild it to fly once in a while.Roy Mayoral

The problem is that the only ones wanting these old helicopters are old flyers that flew them at the time they were current. Once these flyers, and there aren't that many now, get the helicopters they want restored, they won't need many new parts as they aren't going to risk their restored precious helis by flying them a lot. That means they won't usually be buying parts but one time. With that small number of flyers and just one time purchases of parts, the small number of people supplying part just can't keep a business going. With parts suppliers going under and used parts drying up, it's getting harder and harder to restore these old wonder. My hats off to the few people still trying to make the part we need, simply for the love of it.Allen Dye

Hi Larry

If you haven't come up with a canopy yet I may be able to help. I bought two new ones years ago and haven't used either one yet.
Also I have a new cabin interior kit.
Let me know.
