Painting Lexan canopies Hey Guys,
I was just wondering what you guys are using these days to paint old school clear canopies? It seems that any fuel proof Hobby paints in spray cans are long gone. I’m running low on the cans I have and will soon be looking for alternatives. What works for you?

Probably the same as the “old days” .... rattle can primer followed by rattle can colors followed by decals of choice and then topped off by a two part automotive clear ......Been there, done that and old enough to know better..... |

Just use some lexan spray paints used on RC nitro cars and trucks, spray on the inside of a clear canopy no clear needed and hobby shop or supplier should carry it |

I've used Krylon on my Schluter Scout canopy a few years ago now and it's still holding well. Painted on the inside. The lot I got is not a lot, but I thank God a lot for the lot I got! |

If you have a local automotive paint supplier they can have them put the paint in a rattle can if you don't have access to a compressor and good spray gun. I use automotive paints and primers with good success and it is fuel proof especially if you add a catalyst to your finish color and clear coat. If you use decals apply those to the color coat and then finish with a clear coat and hardener added. I've been using the same old Binks No.7 spray gun that I've had since the 80's with good success. |
