Finally got the IKON 2 BT version in . Decided to go with this since accusing the FBL can be a little tricky once built. Programming the IKON was straight forward. I did adjust the PHASING mechanically on mine. You have the option to do it electronically If you wish.

Up next was the tail. Man this took ALOT of sanding to get all seams to line up and also get the whole angles correct on the smaller part of the tail section. Once happy with the finish tape it to the final place and make sure the whole tail is assembled to its final position. You may notice some paint chipping when sanding but dont worry LOWES sample paint works wonders. Just take a sample and they can match color. Mark and drill your holes to the final location.

When inserting your blind nuts with the wood its a good idea to slightly sand the edges of the blocks going in the corners so they follow the curves better. Using Hysol or epoxy set them in place and let them dry over night.

Sand both sides of the horizontal and the receiving end so the glue grabs on well. I used HYSOL for this. using a bubble Level helped getting these leveled.

Blades seem to be balanced out of the box.

Batteries are here!! I ended up getting the 6s 6000 70c To fit no problem in this heli. So if you are looking for a little more flight time these for sure will fit.

Have you checked the CG yet? I've had to add weight to the nose of all of my Roban UH-1s (2 UH-1Ds and 2 UH-1Ns) because the tail hardware is heavy enough to shift the CG aft. Just something to check/think about.

Just saw your intro on the 412 your behind the times joking of course there have been a few build threads on the 412 everything you covered has been covered most of the threads were on scaleheli wen the 412 came out, as of letting the doghouse slam down? I would worry about it a few months in the sun the white will start to yellow and the only way u will notice it is wen u take the doghouse off not to get u flustered but it happens. Rich

Ya I have been testing as I’m going and been trying to shift as much to the front. So far it for sure will need some lead.

Saw your video. If you follow the things you mentioned as per Rich it will be one bad ass scaler. Rich is a detail
Perfectionist and his 412 with the extra details you mentioned such as the step ladder and water tank among others is a great looking helicopter.

The only experience that I have with Roban products is the HH-60 that I rebuilt a couple of years ago. It has about 2 lbs. of lead in the nose but, there was no way around it. I prefer usable weight for ballast, like batteries. Looking at the pictures, the batteries are under the rear floor? Could that bulkhead between the cockpit and rear be removed and an engineered beam in its place to slide the batteries forward? Like opening up a room with a load bearing wall.

Ron
I didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time!

I've seen someone try to move the batteries forward under the floor of a Roban 800 UH-1D Huey. He got them moved forward, but it was ugly. It seemed like the space narrowed the farther forward from the battery compartment you go. When he had the batteries way up front, it actually pushed the floor up. Not a great look.

I used 1.75 to 2 lbs. of lead shot under the cockpit in mine. I did the same with my 700 UH-60 and 600 UH-1N, but with varying amounts of lead shot.

Hello guys had a question on the belt tension for this helicopter. I understand that the mechanics are a lot like the goblin helicopter on those you have to tighten the belt very tight. What methods do you guys have to confirm the belt tension is correct, my plan was to run it and verify that it wasn’t overheating as well as making sure the belt was riding at the right height so it doesn’t rub against the frames.

does anyone here know the gear ratio on this 412?

this is what I found online

I decided the count them by hand and got these. Is it just me or does this gearing look too high??

I am trying to run the GOV on the IKOn so need to input main gear and tail gear

according the Roban its 13.8 on main and 4.7 on tail, being this kit is the most updated and has slant gears I figured they may have changed the gearing. when I counted I got 15.6 main and 5.28 for tail but it seems high to me.

1:13.8:4.7

It's the same for all of the 700-800 Roban mechanics. I use the governor on my ESC and use 13.8 for the gear ratio, even with the helical gear set.

I wouldn’t run motor up until I manually spun the motor a few times by hand to make sure the belt is not running high..
