“This I type of building I am showing here today ,, well I call it what it is ,, some old time scale building done by a old fart on a fixed budget doing it on the cheap And at 73 yrs young I don't feel like learning sketch or any other cad program to do 3- D printing or do i have the money to invest in a printer . Although I am tempted

Nice.

I am with you mang. I have used 3D printed parts for cockpit detail where it works fantastic but still like the “old school” process. To me that is what it is all about.

Looking good man.

Thanks guys ,, yep ,, the building is what it is all about my friend !! I wish I had more time to do scratch builds like you do Butch .. but life has not allowed me the time to go that far ... plus a lot of time I took doing the V-22 tilt rotors I did .Larry C ----------Bergen R/C helicopters

Got cold this week so outside work stopped and back in the shop a little . Got a vacuum forming box and will be playing with that hopefully tomorrow . Got plugs already made and some scale parts added,,Pilot tubes made and installed , VHF/FM antenna added ,, which doubles as the lift handle for canopy back removal for getting to the batteries . Had to move it way ahead of where it is scale but doesn't look out of place . The IFF antenna doubles as the canopy release and is a little bigger than normal to cover the slider hole Tail fin and landing wheel done . Also put reverse pitch on pusher as I was reading the book I have for this build and it talked about using the reverse pitch to stop forward movement instead of flaring for a hover stop . Had to try it and it works although kind of slow and then you have to get off the reverse thrust or you start backing up !!!! On the down side it makes finding the neutral (no pitch ) position much harder as the center detent of the rotary knob I use for v-22 conversion and the pusher prop on this bird is not a real tight/hard detent and doesn't click like a 3 position switch would .May have to move it to a new switch position

Thanks Butch ... This one (yes I have another fuse of this bird ) is just getting a little detail as I want it to be a fun flying bird not something I put so much time into that I hardly want to fly for fear of cracking it up . The other one hopefully will get as much of the full scale attention that I can do and will be more of a for funflys - flyer . It also was to work out how to assemble it and turn it into a modern build with modern mechanics ,,as the early scale birds left a lot to be desired in accessibility and ease of assembly

On another board one of the guys stated this is the most ugly / beautiful helicopter he has seen . Agreed it is that .I have always loved this bird and am surprised that it has taken me this long to do one since the fuses have been around for awhile now .

The Sikorsky H34 is another one of these most ugly / beautiful birds that I hope to having enough time to build . Not a big one like Darrell makes (as I am having trouble carrying this 600 cheyenne around,, althought I love his bird ) but maybe a 600 size H -34 .

Ya ,, there is a lot to be said for your size as far as making things fit without going out of scale !!!
But you still have to pick them up to load them and to work on them
Pmed you my telephone number so we can talk on the V-22 thing .

It was raining ,so I sneaked into the shop a little this weekend and got the pusher prop spinner mounted . Still working on extending the fuse and am having problems doing it with just light PETG like I want to . First off I can't get PETG from McMasters Carr ... the order came back we can't fill that order ... needed in the health care world ... o.k. since my wife and half the rest of the relatives work in the health care world I am fine with that .. so I ordered some white plastic sheets from ebay ... and it is so thin and brittle ( .010 ) that I can barely use it . I finally found some PETG on another website that I am waiting on and it is .04 thick . I hope that it will do what I want or I will be forced to cut the boom and make a mold and lay up fiberglass to make it fit the tail pusher gear box .

I also took some liberties with the spinner cross as I wanted it to cover up the orginal plastic airplane spinners large mounting screws . It is close and I am happy so that is all that counts when you are not doing contests with a bird !
Still looking for a clear gearbox inspection cover on the cross .
