Corona---STOP OVER REACTING
So my wife went to the store yesterday to buy our regular amount of groceries as she always does on our paydays. OMG....out of salt. Why? Toilet paper, almost out of. Why? Hand Sanitizer..I get it, but why? Rubbing alcohol, WITCH HAZEL..on and on and on. WHY? Because the NEWS is hyping this crap up to the degree that it should be criminal. Look what their reporting is doing to the markets, just not ours either. World wide. This is the problem with social media...'the sky is falling' and EVERYONE believes it. Is there actually a virus causing sickness? Yes, but it is not ANYTHING like what is being reported. I would have a greater chance of dying if I lived in Chicago. Calm those around you...be smart but DON'T over react. God bless and just use common sense.

Same here in the northeast. It’s mass hysteria being caused by the media.

That's freaking funny, bring up the fact the media is hyping up what's going on with the virus. You have a better chance of injury on a school playground then the City at large. There are bad neighborhoods in every major city. Like you say media hype!

Are you suggesting we should?

It has decimated my employer and I still don't know anyone that has gotten sick much less died. Admittedly the fact that it hasn't touch my world doesn't mean it's not a legitimate concern. Before someone points out that I'm not the center of the universe, I'll admit that what I'm seeing doesn't mean that others aren't suffering. Still, at this moment, the absolute total collapse of the world's social and economic systems seems pretty extreme for what in years past would have been nothing more than a bad flu season.

Unfortunately, the virus does not care about any anecdotal “evidence”

Very well said!

SoCal Scott, I can't begin to tell you how much I miss Hawaii. I lived in Kailua for 3.5 years, then my second time at K-Bay, I lived on base. My runs there were so relaxing, day, night, rain, didn't matter. I truly miss it. If I suddenly found fortune, I would move there and put my kids in private school. Aloha friend, and be safe. To me, it truly was paradise.

A) it's not that you will catch it,
B) it's not that you will die if you do catch it,

C) it's just that those 2 can happen !!

Except for the whole being broke thing, this stay-at-home business hasn’t been all bad. I have been able to get a whole bunch of chores done that have been accumulating over the years. Finally bought a new book shelf, the old one wasn’t holding up well. I was also able to patch up some leaks in my shop press - apparently those are no good - not that I use it much anyways. I have cleared out some storage and tidied up neglected rooms...I’m pretty pleased with this time off to be honest. I s’pose I will see if I’m still enjoying it a few weeks from now...

I have enjoyed being home a lot...I feel more for my kids then anything else. I still go into work once a week to do hardware repair, more if needed. They haven't made it official yet, but pretty sure my kids are not going back to school this semester. Fall, I would say of course. Also not seeing their friends, kind tough on them. And they both have birthdays in the next 30 days. BUT they are being super sweet and doing what they are told, so no complaints. Even the wife is doing well, especially since she stopped watching so much news! So (knocking on wood) for our family, it hasn't been that bad. But my prayers go out those that have been affected by this terrible Virus.

I just hope the world holds China accountable for this. Until we do, it will continue to happen. Please be safe.
