Now this looks like the proper length boom.

A little more filling and sanding then I will have to tail cone to work on.

Sam Adams and his buddy's just showed up. Time to wash down the sanding dust!

Ron
I didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time!

Thanks guys. The door bell rang a little bit ago. My special order clear windows have arrived from Germany. Now it is getting better. I need to get a 3d printer and step into this new tech. I need to print some seats and things.

Congrats Ron on your 600 scale up project.

I'm planning just a regular Jet Ranger with my Trex 600E. I'm currently running a Suppo 1000kv motor (6mm shaft), 100amp Turnigy 32bit ESC, and running Tattu 7000mah 25C 6s lipos. I'm using the stock 170T main gear and 18T pin gear right now in pod and boom configuration. She has thin cord CF blades and Trex 600 stock paddles and "Wow" is she flying locked in. I'm gonna switch back to my Radix wide cord blades and Thunder Tiger black paddles to tame it once its in the fuselage. Hoping I'll have enough head speed to lift the whole thing easily. Anybody have suggestions...?

Well, it has been a while. Time to get back on this. On the front part of the canopy, the bottom lip would hit first causing it to "teeter" front to back and it wasn't as wide as the fuselage . So it has been cut apart and widened.

The magnets and align pins are in place. There will be another set in the front to prevent sideways movement as there will not be much room for any pins with the cockpit design that In have in mind.

cobieg I didn't realize that it does not include landing gear. What? Anyone have a set that they would like to part with?

Well, I got the canopy glassed back together and all magnets are in place.
Time to hang it and balance.

it took 1.25 lbs. of lead.

I think its time to give it a check ride this weekend

Took it out today for a test flight. Hovered it a little, switched into high throttle, hovered a little more. landed to check motor temp, cool to touch. Spooled back up and almost up to speed, it blew apart. The blade phasing clamp popped off. It can probably be repaired, just not right away.

Ron,
Do you have an image of swashplate / swash driver in position prior to the damage?

Hey Sandy, I don't have any pics. but, it is the same driver that I have on my other scale birds. It didn't move on the main shaft, even as bent up as it is, it stayed in place. I had just hand spun the the head on the bench prior to and everything was very smooth. The main shaft bearings now are very gritty almost to the point of locking up. I don't know if this was the cause but the mechanics have been removed and the fuselage put away to be repaired at a later date.

Ron,
What I wanted to see was the angle of the swash driver link at hover position. The swash inner “looks” like it is quite large, and if this is the case, the swash driver may have been better if it was reassembled with the link on the outside (flipped from it’s current orientation). This may have provided a more vertical attachment to the swash driver ball.

Sandy

PS - sorry about the damage
