My first gasser
A couple of weeks ago I bought a JR Ergo Z230 for the huge price of $125. There appears to have been two versions of this heli, the first with mechanical mix and a later one with CCPM mixing, mine is the later one. It was in very good shape and came with all the radio gear and a set of Cyclone graphite blades. All I had to do was go through the tank and replace the line to the clunk. It fired right up and I now have about an hour on it. It was extremely slow on cyclic, it had the large heavy stock paddles and flybar weights. It was so slow I barely got through a loop. It also was limited to less than 17 degrees total collective pitch travel. I managed to get a set of the longer mixer arms for the head that the manual says are necessary for aerobatics and autos, the helicopter now has almost 24 degrees total collective pitch travel and I've replaced the heavy paddle with a set of graphite SAB paddles that I used to use on Xcells and increased the swash travel in CCPM mix in the transmitter. Hopefully it will now have plenty of collective and cyclic travel for playing with basic aero and some autos. At 13.5 pounds, that may get interesting.

I'm looking forward to flying this heli this summer, it's been a while since I've had anything really different.

Congratulation!

This gasser helicopter with all this mods can "look like" a glow heli but it is not.

Enjoy that machine!

I ended up installing a Century Predator head on mine and it was much better.

I'll see how the changes I've made work before trying anything else. The mixer arms only cost $27 and the lighter paddles nothing, as I had them in my box of spare MS stuff.Allen Dye

A question...
What is the blade size?

23cc... With your new setup... More agil... 680 mm?

710 mm is too much...

The blades are 710s. Ultimate agility is not my goal, I'm much to old to even care about 3D. Just loops, rolls and autos is all I expect out of this heli.Allen Dye
