Carburetors
My Spectra G has a zenoah g231 in it and a Walbro 643 carb. Is that still a good carb for this set up or is there something better for this engine now.

It is a good Carburator.

I like the bulb prime feature.

IMO, this Carburator needs a good air filter assembly.

At this time, no complain.

The carb is fine. However, if it is really old then there is room to be concerned about the carb's pump. The early models don't like ethanol gas and the pump diaphragms get hard from it and don't work very well, if at all. A $13 overhaul kit solves the problem in short order..The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

The Carburator kit is the only thing to change for different gas component.
It is not problem for being "old".

After years of Flying, The carb assy remain the same...

I’ve only ran camper fuel and the pump bulb looks good. I actually got it started with very little trouble yesterday. The engine felt a little tight/dry when I pulled the starter but once I got some fuel into it she started right up. Didn’t try flying, just idled it for a bit. I think one of the best advantages to using the camper fuel is it seems to be harmless to the carbs and considering how old my fuel is I’m thinking that stuff never goes bad.

It does go bad. I just had to dispose of my old gas and oil and it was bad.

Yup , gas most definitely goes bad ..... in hot weather , probably 4 months or so . During my small engine repair days , I’ve seen “old gas” that won’t start a snowblower in the winter ...... fresh gas, start right up ......

And I’ve seen old gas get gummed up to the point that the carburetor needs a total rebuild.....
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....
