Gearhead I'm telling yeeaa, the rich are really shafting us Sorry, you are missing opportunity. With that much fat it leaves plenty of opportunity for others to make money. One important note regarding this, you have to embrace the dot com culture. Honest folks don't make as much money. |

Jim, You left out a few details, but I am assuming you are referring to glasses when you refer to lenses. So simple, buy the PC sheet from Amazon, and using your dremel you can cut out a lifetime of lenses for $27.00. What am I missing here? |

Would be nice to have a jigsaw to cut the lense to the right shape.Gonna need a sheet of metal to make the frames too. When i was a kid we sometimes used tin foil to make glasses and beards. It was pretty easy, looked pretty great. |

BTW, one time when I thought I needed glasses and began shopping for frames, I found out they wanted stupid money for the simple frames. I can see the lenses, because there is some technology associated with them but the frames, not so much. BTW I am 65 and still do not wear glasses, but I am going deaf. |

Jerry, if you are married, that might not be such a bad thing.... Gearhead, I agree. I have the best eye plan my company offers, and I still can only get frames once every two years for my daughters (me and my wife included as well), but for kids this is BS.You want to talk about insane prices, let's talk Dentistry, OMG what a scam going on in this market. Come to find out, they are not nearly as regulated or watched as much as regular Doctors, so they can just about get away with murder almost. I just went thru some crap with a dentist and his business here and 3 lawyers told me the same thing: Yes, you were wronged and I have every right to sue, No they would not represent me because short of death or part of my face missing (jaw) it simply costs too much to take them to court. $750 to pull on tooth, 15 minutes of work. $245 for ONE cavity, another 15 minutes of work. D@mn, I picked the wrong profession! |

aa they can pick on me, I had 3 older brothers, only 2 now. those guys are forgetting one thing "mass-production", 100's of millions of them. plus most likely the lens makers mix their own polycarbonate and pour their own molds.
BTW, my brother in-law ground lenses for some 30 years. not much to it. and glass is harder than polycarbonate.I was in the pharmacy the other day, some guy was mad. telling me he needed a filter for his C-pac. $5. they wouldn't sell him one. he had to go to his Dr to get a prescription and pay his $60 copay. he said he could buy them on line for $3 shipping free without a prescription. he was made, said he can make his own.remember the EpiPen, $1,400 in the USA with a prescription>>>>> $16 off the shelf in CanadaJim Buzz Buzz Buzz |

You may have figured this out, but we live in a capitalist society which means most people are out to make as much money as possible. Then moving up to the corporate ladder business first question is, what is the most I can sell my products for. The next is how bad can I screw my customers and keep them coming back. The third is how bad do they need my products. With those 3 answers we wind up with $1400.00 EpiPens when they cost 3.00 to manufacture. |

It sure does get frustrating, gov takes 1/3 of income, landlord takes 1/3 of income, and the rest is spent keeping myself alive and in shape to keep working. |
