Why do you like Jeti radios? looking for a new radio
Since JR has gone to the dogs now I find myself in search of a different path radio wise. Are the Jeti radios good, bad, limited, fantastic, better than sliced bread? I like my Spektrums but might try a different approach. Any input is appreciated since I don't know squat about the Jetis. I'm a dinosaur in a new world. My first radio was a Heathkit that I still have. Please advise an old timer. Thanks for your help.

I forgot to add that I just need a basic 7-9 channel radio for sport flying. Thanks again.

Jeti radio is like Legos... you only curse it twice... When you pay for them and Legos- when you step on them... and Jeti the first time you program one as it is different.

All else is pure joy.
You can get an used DS14... which can be found at an affordable price or you can pick up the DS12... has a better Processor and can handle a few more things along the way (LUA script).

I started off with Spektrum... switched to Jr (X9303.. then 11X... and then XG11 and XG14...). And then I tried Jeti... I will never go back.

it is user friendly once you figure out their logic of programming the helicopter (or airplane... or whatever.

I would suggest you take the opportunity that esprit has and try it out...

In my opinion, jeti system is good if you need more than 14 channels... To take distance from futaba's SBUS, for instance.

There is not other thing to justify doing an expensive travel to change all your stuff because of that.

Ok, most of us are very unhappy the way JR and Futaba take care of customers, but this is another history...

Can jeti capitalize such a neglect from JR and Futaba ?

I've been questioning the rationale of changing from my Spektrum and still working JR 9503 right now. It is a lot of money and will Jeti decide to build in obsolescence when they see all of the other manufacturers doing it. I would hate to spend $1K on a radio only for it to be outdated and not serviceable in a year. I feel sorry for the people that spent the big money on the high end radios that can't get anything fixed now.

It might not be long before the dot com culture will invade RC. They will rent you a radio, then require an internet connection so you can be on a subscription model. Decide to drop the subscription and the radio is DEAD!!

Keep your old radio equipment, buy multiples when they are cheap for backup and parts, and send it to Radio South for conversion and service.

Badgerfarm Keep your old radio equipment,
Yes, I totally agree with that. All of them have gotten to greedy and their manipulative ways are a big negative. Not just in RC but every market.

Wow. Radio South brings back memories from the past. I, like you, was a JR fan until I came back to the hobby. Shocked to see JR gone. I too am looking into getting a Jeti. Did you get a Jeti?

No, I cleaned and rehabbed all of my old JR and Spektrum radios. I thought it made more sense to use them until they were completely shot and then move on to another system. I will probably go with a Jeti the next go around. I'm not impressed enough by JR to give them my hard earned money.

For the record, JR is not gone. They are just being marketed by someone else. Although I am personally a Futaba guy, JR seems to make some pretty kickass stuff.

I went with Jeti simply for the telemetry that at the time no one else offered. As usually things change and progress with time. Telemetry is standard issue now. If I'd went with Spectrum as an upgrade from my JR X9503 I could still be Specturm as they've have a nice foothold telemetry intergration and not have switched to Jeti. Would I trade muy Jeti for Specturm? No

I upgraded from my 11X and DX9 to a DS14 years ago. I wanted telemetry and voice, what I got was a lot more. The ease of programming, the screen being mounted on top, super flexible switches, integration with multiple FBL units, etc, etc. One thing I don't like is the cold aluminum case in the Winter. I am starting to eye up the 12...Tom

Suppose you have several rc helicopter with receivers binded to your favorite transmitter brand.

When you said, changing to Jeti, you mean to change the whole fleet to Jeti?

I can't imagine to have a fleet with different receiver and transmitters... Quite confusing when you organize a weekend to fly your birds... Carrying the wrong transmitter after driving half and hour to your favorite field...
