Scale Fly-In near Savannah April 16-18 2020 CANCELED
Scale heli event at the expansive Heath Green Skyranch in Hinesville GA.

Wide open flying site, hotels and restaurants nearby, close to Savannah for family stuff.

EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID 19

I didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time!

I lived in Hinesville for three years and have not been back in a long time.
Looking forward to this scale meet and seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Hope you make it Stan!

Descriptions just don't do the place justice, its like a 400 acre man cave with car tracks, float flying ponds, a huge main flight line, covered pit areas, camper spots with power, full bath house, a cooking area....I could go on and on

Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels close to the field? Is there a hotel giving a discount for the flyin? Are there any to stay away from? Thanks

A number of hotels are nearby. The nice part about that field is it's in the boonies but the boonies are only a few miles out of town so the hotels and food are close by and my cell phone has great coverage.

A search of Hinesville/Ft Stewart Hotels will generate a lot of listings. I stayed at the LaQuinta before and it was fine, had a firm bed and hot shower.

Just a heads up.

I spoke to Darrell today about the event status and its decided we will make a go/no-go decision based on the Covid-19 situation in 2 weeks, that will give us 2 weeks heads up if we need to make any changes.

Can’t we just promise to stay 6 feet away from each other? (And not touch other people’s models)

It's 50/50 for me. My wife works on Fort Benning and she has been placed on administrative leave as she cannot really do her job from home except to take foreign country calls from military commands and embassies. Additionally employees and their families are directed to stay home and not drive further than 100 miles from home unless absolutely necessary. So hoping this situation gets better quick Roy Mayoral

As long as when you are the one infected, you don't stop for gas, don't stop to eat, don't touch anything in your hotel, 6' is good enough.

I'm not as much worried about the actual flying as I am about hotel availability and the availability to get groceries and that. I'm not too fussed about restaurants, we can always cook at the field.Andy
