Ikon+Spektrum IX12
Feel like a rookie again.

Got a new radio after the JR debacle. Kinda gave up on my big helis.
Trying to setup a KSE Goblin 700 with MSH brain and IX 12 tx. My servo travels are all over the place in the setup. Using the tx servo setup tab I can't reach a 100% throw on alieron or elevator.

I am hoping someone has seen this issue and has an easy fix.
Thanks in advance

Start by making sure you have no sub trim, and probably best to disable regular trims as they shouldn't be used anyway. Make sure there are no dual rates set. Reset endpoints to factory. See what your percentages are in the setup tab after all that is confirmed. At this point you should not be all that far from 100%

All trims at 0. Alieron is -115 and 46. Elevator is -86 and 29. Tried the travel adjustment and I can't even get in the green range at either end on Elevator.www.redstickrc.net ama#: 968515

Are you getting full and equal outputs shown on the servo monitor function? And if so, assuming your not that far into setup you might consider doing a full model reset on transmitter and fbl unit.

Full setup
Yes sir. Started over completely. Changed from JR to Spektrum. New model and factory reset on the FBL. Will try the factory reset again this am on the MSH Brain. I am struggling with the IX12. Has a LOT of features under servo setups.

Possible Solution
May have found the issue. Found an old video on youtube by Mike Martin. I think I messed up during the transmitter calibration step. Will try it after breakfast and post the solution.

Kinda fixed
So I watched a Mike Martin video on the Brain. Reset my radio and FBL. Back on the transmitter setup. Got all throws/channels reading 100% except Right Aileron. It is at 85. Not green. Mike doesn't cover if it doesn't work, just that it is important not to reverse channels on this step and get the outputs to 100%.
Any suggestions. The IX 12 has absolute travel. Can this be used to overdrive that ch/direction past the 150 in the radio??

Help....

Forgot how hard it is to set the damn things up.

So your at 150% travel on right aileron and ikon is only at 85%?
Are you set up for single servo, no mixes? Where are your endpoints for the other controls? Are they all over the place? Are you neutral in the ikon setup when cyclic stick is centered?

outputs are all over the place. Checked mixes. Looked at monitor and all channels center up. No trims or sub trims. When I let go of sticks the outputs do center up, except of course for throttle/pitch on FBL screens.

**one other oddity. The FBL unit is a MSH Brain. I am using the IKON software. Both are updated. Think this could be an issue?

Yes sir! For sure.

For this type of FBL gyro, all travel adjustment are control on the FBL unit and not on transmitter.

I understand that according to instruction manual, some integration must be doing prior using this gadget.

I think YOU are fighting with the wrong "guy"...

Thanks for commenting. I think the translator your are using is a little off.

So update from last night. I checked and rechecked all Trims, sub trims and reset the travels. Calibrated the stick on the TX checking all centers. Went through the Ikon/Brain software setup for TX outputs. Got back to all greens(100%) throws except right aileron (83%) this time. After double/triple checking my inputs, I reset the model in the transmitter. Gonna watch the Horizon videos for IX 12 heli setup. Create a new model and start over with the FBL.

Will let you know hows that goes today.

* Does anyone know Mike Martins user name on RR? He did videos for the original Brain setup and helped Bobby Jack.

Thanks for the help. Its encouraging. Really need to get back in the air. Been flying a Blade 130x, but not the same as my 700s.

Sorry your having such a hard time. I've always run right through that part of setup, never had a problem. Perhaps you simply have a hardware issue?
When I'm having a problem like that I try and start from the beginning and pretend I know nothing and strictly follow the instructions. I often find my problem being something I assumed about the system.
Upside is your gonna be spectrum/ikon Jedi by the time you get it sorted out!

Update (if anyone cares)
First bit of Success. Today is my 50th bday. Got up early and reset the radio and FBL. Turned on Youtube to the setup video for the brain. Looked closely at the screens Mike used in the videos. Software was of course older, but noticed differences. New Model, reset the FBL and started over. Followed the Wizard verbatim. Well got it setup. Extremely pleased. Then the bad news. I missed a slot when connecting the Gryphon BEC to the FBL. Hit the 4/5/6 port with voltage. So now the servos don't move. It's dead. I have a new Ikon2 on another model in storage. Going pilfer it off my Thunder Tiger e720. Excited to get this heli flying.

You are a wise man. I didn't see your comment until after that post. Going grab that IKON2 and get back to it. Since my separation/divorce started I haven't flown any big helis. Just taking care of the kids and working. I need this break.

Appreciate the interest and comments.

He was basically saying it wasn't the radio with the issue it was the fbl controller. I see you are getting it set up. That's a good thing. Sometimes our inexperience with something and just doing the norm and getting in a hurry with added frustration usually costs a dollar oopie. Most have been there, myself included.

Interface
It was a combination of new GUI, older MSH brain, new radio and older video. Took a lot of redoing. 3 complete tries to figure it out and a big mistake at the end plugging in the BEC to the absolute wrong port. This mistake fried the servo bus in the FBL. Went and pulled the Ikon 2 w/bluetooth out of my storage unit. Will take my time and follow the Wiki to the tee. Still have to figure out this Scorpion Commander. Never set one up.
Long way to go.
Thanks again for the encouragement.

Need a little Help
Installed the new IKON2 BT FBL. Went through the setup following the instructions from updated software/GUI. Even got the Scorpion ESC setup.

Having trouble with the tail setup step. I setup the limits and completed the GUI steps minus the recovery mode. Thought I was ready for a test flight. The tail moves correct directions for the test, but when using the transmitter to move the rudder it doesn't use the full limit of travel. Checked the travel adjust in radio and it is at 100% both direction.
Does the FBL limit the movement from the transmitter? Tried going through the tail setup again. Same result...limited movement. Is the setup not complete??

** I wish someone would make a setup video for Spektrum and the IKONs. All the video for these FBLs are with older units or Software/GUIs.

Thanks in advance and stay healthy.

If you set the endpoints in the GUI correctly what the tail does on the bench does not matter. The only time your going to see the stick inputs directly In the tail movement is during the setup screen. Everything else is the gyro's interpretation of the command

I kinda thought this may be the issue, but it seems strange that stick inputs after initialization won't show complete tail travel.

I may post a video. I would hate to wad up this heli on spool-up.
