Well thank you for the invitation, I have built and flown plenty scale 600 size helis with a flybar and a single Futaba 401 gyro, in 10 minutes I had them dialed in and flying, but this FBL gyro stuff I have been reading about is a little more complicated and with these 800 size and having more money involved, it is making me a little nervous on setting them up. I just got my Kontronik 160 ESC all programmed and ready, I have spooled my AH-6 up and everything looks good, just need to get me another FBL gyro and I will be ready, thought about throwing a Microbeast plus in my AH-6 and see if I can get it off the ground, my plans are to get another radio with the new Futaba 760, I fly Futaba and have for years so I want to stay with them. Who knows, I change my mind all the time........D. Lee.....t.Born again.t.....

Oh wow, didn't know there was still so many big names using Futaba and you would think with my 36yrs with Futaba I would have it figured out by now.. My problem was, I never kept up with technology, I still use a 10 yr old Futaba 7C 2.4 to fly everything, but now I see with this new FBL stuff I need to learn it and be able to set up my own stuff, where I'm at, no one flies Futaba around here close, but I will learn it and be asking for help I'm sure.D. I setup a 750 on a 7C some years ago.. VERY dependable. had to use an SBE

Here https://futabausa.com/product/sbe-1/

to get it done but dead reliable.

This way I was able to use my 617 RX and make it all work.

Having said all this.. the 760 will not work with a 7C.. I dont think.. so if you can find a nice 750 that would be good

Finally decided it was time to get this old Hirobo Bell 222 fuselage done. I bought it in 1985 and it has been sat for a while. I did start on it a couple of times but then left it for other projects.

I finally found a decent scheme and version that I wanted to do, In this case a Bell 222UT as often employed in the Air Ambulance role all over the World.
This particular one is owned by Halo Aviation in J'berg, South Africa and was operated by Buthelezi EMS in that area.

Not a lot left to do on my model now, some decals still to go on and final detail fittings and windows. Skids will also be painted and detailed accordingly.

The last photo is the real thing.

I am kind of leaning this way in 2020. I only have a Heli-Baby NT but I am on the lookout for a Blue Thunder 700 or a 500 sized AH-1 Cobra. I've always wanted to replicate the Forestry AH-1 Cobra in a 500. It sounds like a reasonable start to scale for me.Steve

I have one of those ospreys but when I spool up it rolls right no matter what I do. It seems the right side motor is not running as fast as the left one. What kind of ESC issue are you experiencing? Any advice on what could be causing my roll to the right?
Thanks in advance!!

Hey Roy
Welcome to the V club I did believe it was my esc cutting out under load . and was told by a wise electronic person that esc's either work or they don't if they are both set up the same .I still replaced both Esc's with newer ones that Tom now uses on his birds and later found I still had the same problem .I found it was a bad deans connector that was not making good contact all the time and making the bird run on on one esc instead of the two it is suppose to .. so I basically was running a system that was meant to run on a 6 amp esc , run on 5 amps of one esc at times when the deans would be jiggled around and loose connection . The FC browns out at 4.0 amps so when the deans let loose the whole system was on 5 amps and would be drawn down when all servos were underload and the FC would let go and cause a no control and a crash , the last one being at IRCHA in front of all these fine gentlemen . I had 3 of those in that same yr before i found the problem during assembly setup on the bench last time . Since then I have replaced all the deans with XT-60 connectors and knock on balsa wood .. haven't had any problems with brown out of the FC since.

You should be able to see a motor not running as good as the other in the configurators left window when you run the motors without the blades on to set up the motors top RPM's . But even then the gyros should take care of a lot of difference in Rpm .. I forget what Tom told me that amount was ,but it was a lot ,, like 800 rpm or so .

I would guess that you have to much collective on the left or not enough on the right causing your problem .On some builds I have had it turn out just right and then on others I have had to go in and balance the collectives out by adjusting the swash to blade grip links and sometimes even the linkage up to the swash plate ... just depends on how fast I was putting things back together I guess or how much coffee I had that day
Recheck your collective pitch settings on both sides ( measuring the way the instruction tell you ,,, I didn't the first few times ,,but it works really good doing it that way ) and see if you don't see improvement .

If you need further help email me direct as we don't want to fill this thread up with V discussion

Good luck and don't be afraid to email me for discussion of any type on the V .. I have another friend on the net that also does trouble shooting of projects for a living and I can put him in the loop with you and get this bird flying like it does so well . It is just enough different that it sometimes make you feel like you can't get it .

Nice, Thank you....but....I'm not a painter. Never did. And if I were to attempt it, I would want a few painting jobs under my belt before I even attempted to paint a much beloved Ranger fuselage. But if anybody has an "already" painted one, I'm open to offers. I'll pay the shipping of course, no reserve. I'll buy second hand before I'll buy new.

I know of Funkey in China, and MotionR/C....RCAerodyne doesn't have anything much anymore. Seems its becoming harder and harder to find fuselages Pre-painted. I looked in the rcgroups, runryder, helifreak classifieds and found nothing. Its looking more like jettech models over in china or scaleflying.de over in Germany.
