trouble calibrating throttle ESC
I have a Vbar neo, scorpion commander 120A esc, DX9 transmitter. I plug the IR receiver between the esc and neo, power the transmitter with throttle stick up all the way, power the esc, get the 2 beeps as I should, then move the stick all the way down and nothing happens. Changing the endpoints on the sub trim and trim doesn't help. Any suggestions?
if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

Perhaps plug a servo in to your throttle channel and see if it moves

I plugged a servo in the throttle channel and it does move a small amount in response to a throttle stick input. Also the motor will turn but only if the stick is over 50 percentif it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

Sounds like you may have some programming going on that’s causing the issue.

Try a different model slot on the transmitter that has had no programming done to it .....
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

I bound a new receiver ar9020 to the same model and fired up the ESC. Now I get a Di Di sound with flashing yellow LED which I interpret as throttle not calibrated. I then connect the IR receiver between the ESC and the AR9020, switch to ppm, move throttle to max, power up, and still get the same sound, moving the stick or changing trim or sub trim does not do anything.if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

update: When I have everything powered up and the IR receiver connected and switch from ppm to irs, I get three beeps as I should. Then, when I move throttle to full and switch back to ppm, I get 2 beeps as I should, then when I go to zero throttle, 4 beeps as I should. Now when I power up again I get 2 beeps as I should which indicates ESC is armed,(throttle zero) but again I have to go to 50 percent to get any movement in the motor. I have a linear throttle curve 0 to 100 set up.if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

Firstly, I would check the DX9's servo channel live output menu that the throttle channel is truly outputting signal values from low to high stick.

Secondly, being that you are saying it doesn't start till after 50% throttle sounds like the Vbars internal governor which is how it works. See here for detailed information:

update 2: With my throttle curve running from 50 to 100 percent, I am now getting the esc to arm as it should and the motor starts up at about 10 percent stick. I am not sure how this will work at the field.if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

ps Rappy, thanks for the input. I don't think this has anything to do with the neo governor since I get the exact same results with the Ar9020 which does not have a governor.if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

You did almost everything so...

Your ESC is the common factor here...
Your TX, NEO vbar and the receiver for test are working.

It is time to test ESC in another place.

If I'm reading your post right and I read the manual for the ESC online, I'd didnt see you mention you get 3 beeps indicating you are in program mode to calibrate the throttle.and maybe not the correct order procedure.

Steps as follows from manual: transmitter on, full throttle, plug in IR receiver and set to IRS, THEN power on helicopter, get 3 beeps, move IR receiver to PPM, get 2 beeps, then within 10 seconds move throttle stick to low, 2 beeps to confirm low throttle and then esc will arm.

Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'

Thanks Rappy, please see my posts #7 and #9. As you can see, my question as evolved from not being able to get the ESC to arm, (arms fine now) to only being able to get the motor to start when my throttle curve starts at 55 percent. Every other helicopter I've had when my stick was 0 the throttle curve started at 0 and if I moved the stick a bit, the motor would start to turn. In my present situation, I have to start the curve at 55 with the stick at 0 to get the motor to start when I move the stick and even then I have to go to perhaps 30 percent on the stick to get the motor to start and then can back off to 10 percent before the motor shuts off. Just not sure how this will work at the field.if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.

Very interesting situation.

I recommend a fresh start, new model on transmitter.

Probably, your model in DX9 is corrupt.

Thanks Rojoalfa. See post 6. I did try a new model in the same transmitter. No change. I hope its not the dx9 . I guess I'll do a quick set up with another ESC with the DX9 and see what happens.if it doesn't fit, make it fit but don't force it.
