+1 on Rich doing a build thread on his 1/4 407.
It would be super interesting and enjoyable from a scale helicopter view. I'm sure there would also be a lot to learn from the thread.

Soumds like quite a few of us are busy in the workshop this winter, so there should be some shiny new machines at the nats, ircha amd dalton next year.
The BK117 and Bell 412 are at the test flying stage where i fly them to see what breaks then i make it better. The mechanics for the S76 is almost ready to take to the air for the first time while the fuselage is getting themain gear doors sized up and deciding whether to put each door on a servo or get it where the gear struts push em opem and pull em closed.
The Astar will be clear coated once i get the rest of the markings positioned on the fuselage.

the main landing gear for the S76. It was a pain in the butt to get the dimensions and geometry correct but success after much trial and error. Why did my favorite heli in the world have to have such a simple looking but complex main landing gear?

Gents,

I began the tear down of my 76 to replace the flex drive with shaft drive. I am also upgrading the servos and stab system. Servos will be MKS and going with an Axon for the stab system. When I built this heli back in 08 the HV servos were not yet on the market so will also ditch the regulators and run 7.4v to everything. This will clean up the inside a bit as well.

The tube came out fairly easy with some well placed percussion assistance to remove some bullheads that supported the tube. The pylon bulk head will need cutting down. The IGB should slide right in however I will have to make a bulk head to mount it to. I will be able to keep the servo mounted as seen in the photos which will keep things simple.

Hello George, glad to see you over here on RR. I do watch the flying videos that some have posted at your place, glad to hear your doing better as well. You sent me a PM over on RCG about the Trex 600 ESP mechanics, still looking for a set, just checked out Copter Doctors set he posted for sale. Looked at your build on the Lakota over on Hobbysquawk, looks nice and are you back working on it??

I have that fuse (a tick earlier) then yours and it is fantastic.

On mine I added extra mounting plates between the tail boom and body.

Fully loaded its about 15 lbs and flys like its 3.. Trex 600 mechs..

I did use a century tail box so i could over drive the tail.

sound system by RC Sounds and it flys on 8S

Enjoy yours.

Well, I didn't get my Roban 800 size Huey yet, spent some of my money on this Roban Bell 212 fuselage that came along just when I was about to order the Huey, now I will have to save back up for the Huey
Got a set of Trex 600 ESP mechanics coming from Copter Dr. for it, nice kit so far, instr. manual is horrible.
