More pictures showing 45 degree elbow gears, stripped after just 12 or so flights, so I closed the elbow holes with rubber put a injection hole on one side , installed new gears injected with tri-flow synthetic grease, hopefully this will prolong the gear life. Also changed the 4 blade tail rotor to a 2 blade rotor (not as much weight to swing).

Iam curious if you get any tail wag with the two blade, I am chasing that now on both of my Roban 800 size Hughes 500, one came with a 4 blade tail because I bought it used and my new 500 came with a 2 blade, the 4 blade tracks nice and seems to work okay but I like the looks of the two blades, it just looks right on the 500, but as soon as I bolt on the 2 blade I get a tail wag, no matter what adjustments I do anywhere I can't get rid of the wag, there is no friction on it, the grips are loose and free, linkages all free, so Iam curious how your 2 blade will work for you.?

Iam using a Microbeast 5.1 version which works great actually, really locked in but not the tail with two blades.

Try checking the thrust bearings in the tail rotor blade grips, if one or both are installed improperly you will get this. They should have the trust plate with the smaller ID situated to the outside.Phil

Yep thank you, did all that already, greased everything, nice and slop free and butter smooth, changed my linkage and got it all butter smooth, tried moving the ball link holes on the servo wheels in and out, tried every adjustment possible on the Microbeast and in my radio, only thing I found out was, I had my Microbeast set on clockwise and not counter clockwise like these Roban 500 are, so I made that change, but do to a neck injury I haven't tried it yet to see if that will help, my buddy loaned me his Bluetooth adapter and found out there is a setting for that, so we shall see hopefully soon... 4 blade vs. 2 blade tail.
So far having changed my 4 blade tail rotor to a two blade rotor is working more flights will tell but my 2 blade blades are wider than the 4 bladed blades, I'll see if I can post a picture. Also I'm using a Bv Demon 3X flybarless system. still in testing stage.

Wider two blade for two blades tail rotor
The wider blades are made by spin blades I just happen to have them in my toolbox

UIH,

This past weekend 206pilot got his 1/4 scale Bell 407 "winter project" in the air. Rich picked this heli up around August of last year and after almost a year finally got maiden flight this past Saturday. This a video of the second flight. It took a bit to get the tracking spot on but after a few test hovers it was spot on.

Nicely done Rich,

Thanks Larry!
I will have to get my son to assist me with taping off the fuse for the other colors. He is in school for Auto body and painting and already paints like a pro. The tape will have to go over a lot of rivets and the vents which make it very hard to tape off straight and level. I know my limitations so will get someone better than me to get it done.
