Adding a Roban Cobra to the hanger this winter. Assembled and test flown and extremely pleased with the results. Now to disassemble and turn it into this aircraft from HMLA 303. Looking forward to detailing under that big greenhouse!

well.. its nice.. but.. I have a question..maybe a problem. The Jesus bolt nut.. is not a lock nut.. OK.. thats fine.. The bolt is a shoulder bolt.. thats good.. BUT.. The there is no feature in the head block to keep the nut from spinning and its sub flush.. also. the shoulder binds on the nut before you can tighten it Its like the shoulder is too long or the hole in the head block to short.. TRUST ME.. it made for a few tense moments.

Help?

Sure...NOTAR.. of course I can.. and I can call Kristin and ask her too.. BUT.. the idea of this thread was to just get some posts going on RR..

and.. truth is I bet can solve it.. i just wanted to involve the group as more then less is always better.. Maybe others want to share there thoughts..

Let me expand on the parts.... the quality of the parts is FANTASTIC. I was concerned about the price and the amount of parts I would not use in the flybrless configuration but no more.. value is very good.

parts fit is super!.. except for this nut rotation issue.

Michael, Check to make sure the shoulder is not too long and there is enough thread on the bolt. Hold the nut while you tighten and it will suck it like a press fit while you continue to tighten the bolt.

Taylor.. I measured and the shoulder was to long.. thanks for chiming in.... so.. me being me.. I went this route.. I have no idea why this makes me feel better but I have the tools so why not.

I machined the round for a square nut and only went down .080" WORKED LIKE A CHARM.. now there is no way for the nut to rotate.

You can see pictures here https://michaelzaborowski.smugmug.com/Bell-212/

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page.

Taylor..I suspected that is what the intent of the install was about and I suspect it would have worked.. but this was easy and should last a life time. NO CHANCE the nut can spin.. (BTY.. the M3 square nut is from the rebuild of my Kavan Ranger..

Thank you.

Centruy Bell 47 conversion.
Thought about spending this winter converting my Century Bell 47 to electric, only thing is, I don't think it will take me all winter.:
Or I might build a 800 size Roban UH-1N Huey, hmmm, or I thought about a 700 size Roban Cobra, now which one is cheaper to do this winter...
