From 61D to 61G Carburator...
/
/

It was time to move on.

My Robbe-schlüter futura need something special.

So, I decided to upgrade the Carburator.

Currently, I used OS Max 61SX-H WC with a Curtis Youngblood modified carburator 61D and a tuned pipe. (manual mixture with servo)
All the control was made using a governor GV-1 to manage the mixture servo.

A "New" 61G carburator was the choice. (Automatic mixture)

I did the change.

The old and the New...
Compare...

Then... The testing...

It needless to say... The setup was more easy and motor?

Plenty of power!

I had to double-check the date on this, I thought it must have first been posted on 10-26-1999, not 10-26-2019
Old school.

Very old stuff... Yes.
New vintage for me!

I enjoy the programming thing with this carb and the operation with GV-1.
No manual nor instructions.

I had a good time doing the setting, yes... On 2019!
It was not easy.
A mistake and you broke your glow motor.

The needle shape was the secret... Very sensible.

One curve for motor.
One curve for the needle carb.

I did both ways...on GV-1 curves and with my futaba 12Z.

To understand this carb, I wrote a Excel program to help me draw a curve of equivalent diameter in relation to needle turn.

So, in 2019 with automatic mixture carb why manual mixture carb?... Well, I learned a lot.

Even today, I found a lot of People driving manual mixture carburetor on RC planes.

Why this complex operation?...
Maybe the feeling that you can "tweak" the motor...

Very interesting!

I’m playing around with my old 99SE and YS 61. I need to look into using the mixture control with the GV-1.

Hope my ys 61 likes 22.5 nitro!

Well, back in the 90s probably it was a good experience.

Tweaking the glow motor with manual mixture gave some results...

Now, with automatic mixture carburetors, I concluded it is useless to think on manual mixture carburetor on rc helicopters.

But... For flying vintage RC helis... Well... It is always a good nice talk on Field camp.

61G, three needles, isolator on base...

Planning the swap... Good!
