Roban lack of spare parts
I had a talk with Motion RC yesterday about the lack of Roban repair parts. It was like talking to the wall. I told the customer service rep. that I need a 4 blade tail rotor hub for a UH 60 super scale that obviously was not installed straight and wobbles side to side (this is for my own personal build, non Roban).I sent an email to Roban to try and locate this part with no reply.
I did purchase a complete tail rotor Aerodyne to get the part but, I would rather put that on another build. I explained to him that I want to purchase a Roban product, but with the lack of repair parts I will NOT be investing my money here but with another manufacturer.
Really sad with all the product out there and no part support.
Just my 2 cents worth.
I didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time!

Motion RC is a very poor steward for this brand. I spoke with then right after they picked up the line about a specific fuse I want to buy. I was told that it would be in the first shipment. It wasn’t. Contact again and offer to pay in advance for it to guarantee that I’ll get one. Nope. Won’t do it. Told they are already coming in. Still they’ve never gotten one. It is ridiculous.Nick Crego

Flashback of RC Aerodyne. Cliff was a great guy but these same issues existed.
I wonder if scaleflying Germany has the same issues.
I’ve had excellent service dealing with Roban directly.

If anyone has a Roban 700 size 4 blade tail hub they want to part with, I am interested.
Thanks,

My experience dealing with Roban directly has been pretty hit or miss. Mostly miss. I think I'm 2 for 6 on email replies, and both were very delayed. Having said that, I was actually able to buy what I was after those 2 times. I honestly don't think they really like selling parts directly to customers, even though they say they will. When I do email them, I keep my expectations low -- that way I'm pleasantly surprised if/when I receive a reply. I have to be pretty desperate these days to even put forth the effort to email them.

As far as MotionRC and parts availabilty, from what I understand, Roban demands their distributors must fill a cargo container with product before it will ship. That's a pretty big expense for the distributor. I wouldn't count on seeing any new kits or parts from MotionRC until they've sold the majority of Roban kits they currently have in stock.

I actually contacted them thru their contact us link but then emailed directly with the rep that contacted me. Let me look for the email and I’ll PM it to you.

I do believe folks when they say their success in contacting Roban directly was hit or miss. Again, my experience has been completely successful
But I want to add that Roban will sell parts directly to customers as they sold me a tailboom and fins painted in the color I wanted for my 429.
If I may add some info no longer related to Roban but may interest someone. Some of you may remember RC Aerodyne used to sell a 1/6 Bell 429 kit which is no longer available. Well I purchased a used 1/6 scale fuse which was missing the entire interior and some other pieces. Those kits are actually produced by Flyfly Hobby. I contacted them and they sold me all the parts I needed at a very low cost which was much lower than I expected. They will also sell the entire kit to anyone who wants one.

I just can't help but to think what a poor business model this is. Flood the market with a nice product and not give any support for it. Sure, I was there when an AS 350 went in due to tail gears not lazer welded (panama city) and Roban stood by their product and sent that person a NEW kit. I need a part that wasn't good from the start and I am willing to buy it. I shouldn't have had to go through the back door and buy the whole tail unit from the old distributor just to get the small part I need. Glad I haven't invested big $.
I'll get by with what I have but, I feel sorry for the people who are grounded because of this problem. Motion should demand a part supply or stop selling a non repairable product.

Same problem here, sort of. My wife bought a 407 from Motion for my birthday. There were some parts that were heat damaged (probably during shipping from China). I initially reached out to Motion to correct the issue but they said no longer under warranty because it had been more than 30 day since purchase. Remember my wife bought it as a gift, yep it sat around for a few weeks prior to being opened. They were less than eager to replace the damaged parts. A few weeks later, because it was bugging me, I reached out to Roban customer service. Roban responded within a week. Sent me replacement parts, no charge. Unfortunately the color was slightly off but I corrected that.
I'm speculating here, but it almost seems Roban is only working on a part time basis, possibly every other month or a few months a year, which is typical for specialty manufacturers in this part of the world. I agree their business model has room for improvement.

I have an 800 Mercy Air, Bell 222. I have bought quite a few spares from scaleflying.de with no problems. All parts I wanted were in stock. I live in the UK now.

MRC is great for electric planes and EDF jets but helicopters they are not, poor parts support is going to kill it for them if things don't change, they sold a lot of scale kits over the last few months to customers who will need parts sooner or later, can't even get a 700/800 ball link right now from themD.
