Brain 2 and Ikon 2 Is there any difference between the Brain 2 and Ikon 2? They both have the same exact specs and two different models. |

All models include logging and built-in support to telemetry and remote configuration from the transmitter Other than the color of their cases, the iKON2 / Brain2 are 100% identical. They are both manufactured and developed by the same company: MSH Electronics https://www.ikonflybarless.com/ https://www.msh-electronics.com/MSH Electronics is based in Italy, but they ship worldwide. They upgrade their firmware about 2 times per year and there is no charge for upgrades or new features. Direct access to the developers is through their Facebook group or the HF site: https://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=308 Believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you hear. Mobil app WTH??!!?? The mobil app cost $10. Must have taken a page from Mikado. Here is our very best FBL unit. But you have to pay extra to be able to use its functionality.Ok....feel better now. |

The Brain2 versions are not two but six (and the iKon2 versions are also six). For all versions is offered free of charge (and therefore included in the price) the Windows configuration software that can be downloaded for free from websites. All versions can also be adjusted directly from menus on the screen of Spektrum, Jeti, Graupner, FrSky transmitters (functions included for free). All versions can also fine tuned using Dials and/or potentiometers of the transmitters (functions included for free). The standard version of Brain2 control units costs from Amain 164.99 USD (iKon2 version costs from Helidirect 164.99 USD).As explained above, no Android or iOS applications for tablet / Smartphone are required or necessary to operate the control units. But for those who want "also" these (optional) options there are the versions with integrated Bluetooth Brain2+BT that from Amain cost 199,99 USD (or iKon2+BT that from Helidirect cost 199,99 If you want, you can buy the external Bluetooth dongle later. However, please note that due to the casing and screws, the on board connector, the independent voltage regulator, the LEDs, the connection cable with two connectors, and the packaging, a standard Brain2 plus a Bluetooth dongle will cost more than the Brain2+BT version in which Bluetooth is integrated in the same case. |

While I was complaining I bought another Bluetooth IKON2. I still get frustrated with buying systems that require external software (at an additional charge) to operate the FBL units functions. Your software is an added function (mobile access), but Mikado requires you to upgrade to the pro software to use the GOV functions for my Nitros(added fee). Yes your product is great and at a better price point. Sorry if this seems a direct assault on your company, but I am still of the opinion that paying after the fact for functions of a product sucks. Put it into the price of purchase. Even though I know your company probably has to pay to develop and maintain the software at a cost to you I like to pay upfront. My Ikons have the neat lil Bluetooth icon on them. I was surprised that the software cost, because I assumed it was part of the upgrade. Great product and I will give up the $10. But you will have to forgive my complaints. Kinda like getting home with a toy and being sure the batteries were included and not finding them in the package. I hope your company does well and is around for a long time. Yours will be my go to FBL unit for builds. Forgive my grumpy/frugal nature.Best Wishes, Ricky Klusman |

raholek My Ikons have the neat lil Bluetooth icon on them. I was surprised that the software cost, because I assumed it was part of the upgrade. There is no charge for the remote setup from your transmitter (if you have any of the radio brands that support telemetry). Also, you may not be taking into consideration the costs associated with developing something for iOS and then getting into the Apple App Store vs Android. It ain't free. Since there is no charge for upgrades, I'm not sure how it would be part of the upgrade. Personally, I don't normally use Android or iOS. But all my Brain2 / iKON2 have BT. And I use a Windows 10 laptop with the $25 BT / USB adapter to program / upgrade / download logs. I didn't expect MSH Electronics to send me the BT / USB dongle for free. solo First question is: How to bind IKON2 to my DX8 radio? I tried everything to no avail. Im using 1 DSMX sat connected to SAT 1 on the IKON2.I just purchased the IKON2 and down-loaded the software on my computer; first of all when when I looked at the software it says "DEMO MODE" what the heck is demo mode? Do I have to purchase the software? Flight Control Units can only put receivers or satellites in bind mode (in bind mode the LEDs of receivers and/or satellites blink fast). As explained in the instructions you can do this by hardware (bind plug in to the CH-4-5-6 iKon2 connector) or by software (Checkbox "Spektrum Bind" in the "Receiver Selection" panel of the Wizard), then cycle power. Once the receivers and/or satellites are in Bind mode, power on the transmitter keeping the transmitter BIND button pressed. The Bind procedure takes place exclusively between the transmitter and the receivers/satellites as explained in the Spektrum manuals (the transmitter stores the serial number of the receiver/satellites in the model currently active in the transmitter). With Spektrum Transmitters you must be about two meters away from the transmitter and not too close or too far for the Bind process to be successful. To use the Windows app "Configuration Interface" for Brain2 / iKon2 you must connect the Brain2 / iKon2 to the PC using one of the many standard USB cables that we all have at home and that we use to charge or to connect devices to the PC and download photos from various devices (Smartphone, Tablet, cameras, webcams, etc.) to the PC. Beware, some cheap smartphones come with cheap charging cables that inside the sheath have only the two wires plus and minus for charging but do not have the two cables for transmitting and receiving data. So, if you see that one of your USB cables powers the FCU but does not communicate with the interface software, try another cable. |
