Yep, definitely not the same since everyone stopped using drugs. You probably won't get any real replies because no one is high, but there might be one or two if you're lucky.

Agree... very slow. More than before RRs went offline But it’s to be expected. The slow market for helis isn’t helping. The freaks haven’t fared well either.showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

I'm still here. Just busier than before. Not as much time to hang out on forums and read/chat on the daily. The hobby is also kinda in cruise control for me at the moment. Everything is up and running (for the most part). No weird issues to sort out. And, no room on the wall for anything new.

But, me and my flying buddy are still hitting it for 2-3 hours every Sunday morning, weather permitting. So, helis are still very much a part of what I look forward to every week.

The hobby on the whole seems to be in a slump at the moment. Where we used to hit 4-5 fun fly events every spring-summer, I think there were only 2 this year. And, I was too busy to hit either. Next year I plan on making as many as possible again.
if it ain't broke, break it.

Was out of the hobby for a while. Life, other interests. I’m shocked that all of my local hobby shops here in So Cal don’t really support the heli hobby. Looks like it’s all on line now. Haven’t been to my old field. Happy flying at local park. Hoping for a rebound of the hobby.

Nitro helis remain great.....

FBL took away most of heli set up. Don’t take away engine tuning also......
The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Really?
I feel like it added to the setup. Not only are you looking for a perfect mechanical build but then I'm building at least 3 different flight modes and tuning them the way I like.

Nice Futura, a real helicopter.

Unfortunately the hobby has been designing and refining the hobby from itself. Best thing I’ve done for my interest recently was buying a Caliber ZG. The Calibers are such sweet helicopters.
Quest NEO Caliber ZG, Zenoah G260PUH, CGY750, NHP 750, NHP 115.
JR Propo Ergo 30, OS 32SX-H, Edge 550, Edge 90.

That is correct.

Even though I am a glow motor entusiast, in my hangar, a spectraG 26cc gasser helicopter is also ready to fly...

The R/C heli hobby
I still fly from time to time and I'm sure glad RR is back up. For me, FBL controllers took away most of the setup and that is what I enjoy the most. (Pretty much the same with electric and gov's) I also like the challenge of tuning nitro's to perfection and the longer flight times. Kind of like the smell of fuel and cleaning up my heli afterwards.

Guess I'm old school through and through.

Happy flying gents,

Rg

Welcome back Robert... It's good to see people drifting back and posting here again.

Everything I used to like about this hobby, is still here. It's just a little muted by the clutter of other things.

But there is the feeling of futility in trying to make a flybared helicopter perfect when it can all be replaced by a small unit the size of a box of matches. After decades of working on my flybared X-Cell Tempest it is as close to perfect as I can get it. Still, it doesn't have the purity of movement and crispness as my identical Tempest with a CGY-750. So many more parts yields so much less performance...
