Quietest muffler
Weight and power not an issue. What would you recommend? Thanks

A couple years ago I read a test where all the ones out at the time were tested with db measurements. Zimmerman was the quietest, TRM and RJX were the loudest. I was flying the RJX, spent $200 or so on the Zimmerman.

It’s not a drastic difference. Little smoother sound, but still pretty loud.

I think my Hatori pipe is pretty quiet compared to what I heard at IRCHA.

Well I'll be a Monkey's Uncle... Didn't know Hatori was gone.
I have been at an electric only flight field for years now so my nitro birds just sit and hang out except for the occasional flight.

Yeah, it’s pretty disappointing. Their products were great across the board. Expensive, but worth it.Nick Crego

Mufflers
I have an old fat century V2 muffler on one of the gassers and it doesn't sound too bad but if I come across a Hatori muffler will give it a try. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Hatori
The problem with the Hatori is that it has very limited flow (small tailpipe and internal passages) so it didn't make very good power at all. It was the quietest I would agree, but a zimmerman is still quite good quiet wise but tons more power. If you heard something really loud at IRCHA it most likely was a tuned pipe system. Those are very loud but designed to make the most power.

Mstudio is owned by a former Hatori employee and the mufflers are top shelf. The gasser muffler is quiet, light and making very good power on my TRM 300.Tom

Mstudio
Raj, you can also get it from Miniature Aircraft USA website as a second option:

http://www.miniatureaircraft.de/sho...ategory&path=64

You pay the lower price listed ($198.99 no VAT) for USA/out of the EU orders.

Yes... Quietest muffler always sacrifice power.

You want power? You sacrifice your ears...

Not necessarily true!
You can have very good power and save your ears to boot! After all, you only have 1 set of ears, damage them, and its over for the rest of your life. So take care, loud noises can do damage over time...

Internal combustión in 2T engines always ended at muffler inside.

So, this is correct.
Muffler is always need it, so your ears...

A good balance...
