I like a radio that feels substantial in my hands. I don't use a neck strap, but I like a radio with some heft.

The IX-12 feels very plasticity and too much like a DX6e or other cheap radio. I did like the DX18 as far as heft, but for the price is terribly lacking in features and glitchy.

I bought a FrSky Horus X12S on a whim and I have to say, it "feels" quite nice. It is boxy which some won't like, but it has nice grips on the back of the radio that fit my rather gorilla-like mits well. I especially lioe the rear sliders which fall under the index finger as it sits naturally and not on the side like other radios.

I tried a VControl once, and it felt much like an IX-12. I didn't care for it. But, who knows, the "Transmitter Comfort Parameter" may not have been set correctly in the software. Just saying.

Futaba 14MZ had the best feel of all, better than the 9Z, better than the 18MZ, better than any JR or Spektrum I ever held (though I really used to like the JR gimbals). Airtronics Stylus was very good also. I am not a V Control fan either nor Jeti but I like a lot of the features. On a dog sled team, if you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.

I use a neck strap and rest my hands on top of the tx so for me its all about how the sticks feel. I have a DX9 and 14SG . The DX9 I adjusted the stick tension to my liking. The 14SG tension was good. I also put longer stick extensions on both tx. The futaba has short sticks that set in a pocket with high sides . I pinch the sticks so with short sticks my fingers would hit the sides.
