How Many "New" People Here Are Actually Former Members Simply Returning?
Lately I've seen a lot of "green" new memberships. Some of those are folks that seem to be well versed and comfortable here. Did anyone close or delete their membership before RunRyder went off-line last year? Are any of the "new" memberships actually people that have been here before and are simply returning?

Yup. I know you. You're on my buddy list (). It's the "rrNewbie"s I've been seeing more of lately. The people that appear to have been RR member for only a few weeks that caught my eye.

Mark obviously kept the former members and their data in tact so I find myself wonder if there really that many new members, or did some older members "unsubscribe" before 31 Dec 2018 and are just re-joining now?.?.

New user here, I have been in the hobby since the System 80 Schluter days.
Currently into smaller than 300 size helis and most interested in the scale side of the hobby.
Soon to retire and would really like to get a large size scale copter up and flying.

Been a user on HF, SRCH,RC-HeliDE,RCG,and a few Facebook heli related groups.

Trying to learn as much tips and tricks as possible, never too old to get educated.

So I haven't heard of any new folks that are actually returning folks. The new people really are new people. Nice. Good to see fresh faces here.

It feels like the hobby may have found its low point and is turning the corner. I understand that you "see what you want to see" but the return of RunRyder and new members posting is one more sign. There are some neat new models out there and I'm really excited about some of the new Transmitters available.

I think we need Mark to go on facebook and make an announcement on all the helicopter pages so we get people back.

Good idea..alternatively, RR members with FB accounts can use the share link to share the news?

Joined in 2002. Never left. Mark and his site spent a year or so, wandering in the desert, but now he's back.-----

I spotted it on one group on FB, that's how I knew it was back. I also put the word out on the RC Scale Heli group on there.

I do believe a lot of the old members aren’t aware that RR is back online. I haven’t seen post from the usually very active members, some members didn’t bother with other helicopters related forums when RR was offline, I only knew RR was back on through HF, also when RR was offline it wasn’t 404 dead so some might not know that it is now active.

I suggested to Mark via PM that he should consider sending a group email to all members in his “old” database to announce RR’s return.

Doing so will short stop what we are experiencing now..... ie, learning that RR is back by chance ......

Apparently my suggestion has fallen on deaf ears...😊
Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

"All things come to those who wait."

Use-groups, Facebook, Twitter, Forums, etc, and all social media are an amoeba moving aimlessly, ebbing and flowing one direction and then another. I'm of the belief Facebook and other forums have become the domain of pitchmen. They've become a place where hucksters disguised as modelers "talk" about new products. Control of the discussion is largely in the hands of vendors.

Time will tell, but it's my opinion that independent forums, such as this one, will prove to be the communication channel of choice. I certainly don't know that - but I believe that.

So. I think modelers and hobbyist, like you and I, will eventually migrate back here weather or not it's posted on Facebook. The cream always rises to the top.
