Futaba 32MZ.
So it seems Futaba's newest flagship radio is the 32MZ. There have been rumors of it for some time now but recently it has officially appeared on the FutabaUSA website.

It's time to start talking about this radio. At this moment it appears to be unavailable so it'll be difficult to get any hands on feedback.

A few things I noticed looking at the provided list of features..
-- New second display for telemetry.
-- Sticks "... magnetic detection type noncontact potentiometers..."
-- R7108SB reciever. How is that different than the R7008SB?
-- Although the radio is named a 32 channel, 1/2 of those channels are "Multiprop" channels. I'll have to do some reading to understand what that means to the average modeler. Didn't we already have channel multipliers?
-- I don't see the dials and sliders I have on my 18MZ. I'll be interested to see how we control 32 channels while reducing the input devices.

Any thoughts? Does anyone have one yet? Anyone seen one yet?

Do they make it in euro style tray?
Well as far as I know, the radio hasn't been released yet. The question might be "Will they make it in euro style tray?" To that question I can't say. Typically Futaba does produce a tray style for their top end radio but times are changing and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that sales don't justify the cost.

Short answer: I don't know. Someone with closer to Futaba will have to chime in.

I've not seen one yet, but history supports and particularly with the European market as large as it is, one likely will appear sooner or later.
The radio has been released in Japan. Hopefully it will arrive here soon.

I see that you can add the 32MZ to your cart at RCJapan now. A few things to notice...

While you can add the radio to cart today, the fine print says available in two months.

Also, before you buy from RCJapan, know that the US repair facility is unlikely to be much help with repairs and service. The below note is cut-and-pasted from the FutabaUSA website. https://futabausa.com/repairs/
Please ensure Transmitter and Receiver both have FCC sticker attached.
If it was purchased in North or South America but lacks a sticker, include receipt in form submission. If your product is labeled TeleC (Asia) or CE (Europe), please contact that distributor for your service request.

Did you also note how much cheaper it is there? I thought it was a significant difference.

No question about it. Futaba is less expensive in Japan. My comments in post #5 were to help other understand that there may be differences in the radios beyond the price. Service is one of the differences. https://www.rcjapan.net/index.php?m...o5va36ujactik00

Did you notice you can currently buy an 18MZ WC (TX only) for about $1,100? My 18MZ is 4 or 5 years old and it's been flawless. Do I need a warranty? And even if it fails, for $1,100, two transmitters would be cheaper than one in America. https://www.rcjapan.net/index.php?m...o5va36ujactik00

Warranty isn't the largest issue. If an RCJ transmitter lacks the FCC sticker, Futaba USA will not service it at all, warranty or not.

Bill, the 32MZ does have 4 slider levers; 2 on each side as the 18MZ. Refer to below link for manual:

Man. That's what I'm talking about. The manual. Cool. Should be a nice place to start when trying to figure out what's special about this radio.

Thank you for the link.

The transmitter integration will appear at the end of 2019.

More cool features will be added with other future software updates. The radio is a powerful piece of hardware with lots of potential that will be realized in the future.

Can we confirm that models set up in a 14MZ or 18MZ will directly transfer to the 32MZ?

We were talking the other day at the field about the relive pros and cons of various radios currently available. It occurred to me that after 50 years of modeling, I'd pay a $1,000 up front just so I didn't have to re-program all my stuff.

Dr.Ben...
Bill,

18MZ files directly transfer to the 32MZ.
Thank you for answering this... However...

I've been reading the 32MZ manual. From page 188 of the manual: "The model data (only latest version) of T18MZ (WC) can be copied to T32MZ."

My radio is NOT the latest version. I don't have a WC. I'm certain I'm not reading the manual correctly.

Bill,

The files will transfer from a non WC after you update the MZ firmware to 2.7.2 . This is straight from the mouth of Nick Maxwell just now at IRCHA.

While you're there with Nick...

Page 12 of the manual -concerning the R7108SB receiver: "Power requirement: 6.6V LiFe battery." Traditional NiMh 4 and 5 cell batteries are out?
